Installation of rooftop solar plants exceeded 5 lakh in the state

More than 65,000 people get direct employment through about 5,000 companies in the state
Lucknow, May 2026 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has achieved an unprecedented milestone in the field of rooftop solar installations and set a new record in the country. So far, more than 500,115 rooftop solar plants have been installed in the state.
A total of 894,217 applications were received in the state, out of which a large number have been approved and installed. With this, a total installed capacity of 1,696.68 MW has been created. Subsidy worth ₹3,038.08 crore has been provided by the central government and more than ₹1,000 crore by the state government.
During this period, UPNEDA Director Ravinder Singh said that around ₹5 crore worth of free electricity is being generated daily in the state, and carbon emissions have been reduced by lakhs of tonnes. In addition, through about 5,000 companies, more than 65,000 people have got direct employment and lakhs have received indirect employment. Also, by installing solar projects on rooftops, about 6,500 acres of land has been saved and kept available for agriculture and other uses.
In April 2026 alone, 51,882 rooftop solar plants were installed in just 30 days, setting a new benchmark for speed. Since the start of the scheme, this is the fastest installation of 50,000 plants by any state, creating a national record.
In April, the state’s average daily installation was 1,729 plants per day, the highest so far. Based on this performance, Uttar Pradesh secured the first position at the national level.
It is notable that in March 2026, the average daily installation was 1,700 plants per day, which has now been surpassed in April. This achievement is a direct result of effective implementation, strong coordination, and continuous monitoring in the state.
