TVK Confident of Landmark Victory in Tamil Nadu Polls, Predicts 150–200 Seats

Chennai, May 2026 : K. A. Sengottaiyan, Chief Coordinator of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and the party’s candidate from the Gobi constituency, on Saturday expressed strong confidence that the party is poised to achieve a historic victory in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, projecting a tally of 150 to 200 seats.

Addressing reporters in Gobichettipalayam, Sengottaiyan said the party is founded on the core principles of sacrifice and humanity, which he described as central to its ideology and functioning. He emphasised that TVK is committed to working in close coordination with the people and reflecting their aspirations in governance.

Highlighting the leadership of actor-turned-politician Vijay, Sengottaiyan said that the party’s leader has a unique ability to connect with the masses and inspire transformative change across the state. “This movement stands on sacrifice and humanity. Vijay is a leader who resonates with the people and works in harmony with them. The future leader of Tamil Nadu will also have a national impact,” he remarked.

Sengottaiyan asserted that the outcome of the election, scheduled to be declared on May 4, would reflect what he termed a “silent mandate” of the electorate. He noted that voters have made their choices based on their belief in leadership and governance. “Only the voters truly know why they cast their votes the way they did. There is a growing confidence among the people that they have found the right leader to shape Tamil Nadu’s future. This will be evident in the results,” he said.

He further claimed that TVK is set to emerge as the single largest party in the Assembly. “We are confident of securing between 150 and 200 seats. This will mark the beginning of a new era in Tamil Nadu, where governance will prioritise the happiness and well-being of all citizens,” he added.

In a pointed political statement, Sengottaiyan suggested that an “arrogant empire” would fall after the election results, signalling a major shift in the state’s political landscape. He maintained that the momentum for change was unstoppable and driven by grassroots support.

He also spoke about the dedication of party workers, stating that many are deeply committed to the movement and its leadership. Responding to speculation circulating on social media about a potential cabinet formation under Vijay, Sengottaiyan dismissed such reports as unofficial and said the party would not comment on unverified information.

On organisational matters, he indicated that elected candidates might be asked to gather at the party headquarters after the results are announced, though no formal decision has been made yet.

Reacting to remarks by Vaiko that youth voters had largely supported TVK, Sengottaiyan said the veteran leader’s observation reflected ground realities. He also responded to criticism from Nainar Nagendran, who had predicted that TVK would fail to win any seats, stating that the election results would reveal the true political standing of all parties in Tamil Nadu.

With counting day approaching, TVK leaders remain optimistic that the electorate’s verdict will usher in a new political chapter in the state.
