New Delhi/Kolkata, May 2026 : Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta attended the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected BJP government in West Bengal on Saturday. Calling the occasion a historic moment, she congratulated the new government and paid tribute to the courage and resilience shown by the people of Bengal, especially women and daughters of the state. The Chief Minister said the people of Bengal had witnessed years of oppression, corruption and political intimidation over the past 15 years, but had now chosen democratic change to realise the dream of Sonar Bangla. She described the day as the beginning of a new chapter for the state, where development and public trust would guide governance and Bengal would move forward in step with the rest of the country.
CM Rekha Gupta said the era marked by allegations of corruption and atrocities under the previous regime had now come to an end. Expressing confidence in the new administration, she said the government led by Suvendu Adhikari would prioritise good governance, development and public welfare. According to her, the formation of the new government has sent out a positive message that Bengal’s future is now brighter and more hopeful.
The Chief Minister extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Suvendu Adhikari and the people of Bengal on behalf of Delhi. She said the victory was not merely a political win, but also a tribute to the sacrifice of 321 BJP workers who laid down their lives for a better future for Bengal and the dream of Sonar Bangla.
She said these workers sacrificed their lives not just for the Bharatiya Janata Party, but for the future generations of Bengal and for the protection of democracy itself. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta added that the atrocities faced by women, youth and political workers in Bengal had deeply hurt democratic values, but the people had responded through the democratic process and ushered in a new era of change. The Chief Minister concluded by saluting the courage, patience and faith in democracy shown by the people of Bengal, and expressed hope for a bright and prosperous future for the state.
