Deputy CM Diya Kumari Reviews Child Rights Schemes, Orders Strengthening and Quality Improvement of Child Care Institutions
Jaipur, May 2026 : A review meeting of the Child Rights and Empowerment Department was held on Monday at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Child Rights Department, Diya Kumari.
The meeting reviewed key institutional and non-institutional child care schemes, Mission Vatsalya, Sponsorship Scheme, Child Helpline (1098), the Child Marriage-Free Rajasthan campaign, and the implementation status of budget announcements for the financial year 2026–27.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on strengthening child rights protection mechanisms and ensuring effective implementation of departmental schemes across the state. The Deputy Chief Minister directed that repair, renovation, and maintenance work of child care institutions must be prioritised and completed on a fast-track basis so that children residing in these institutions can be provided with a safe and improved living environment.
She further instructed that the Child Helpline (1098) be made more efficient, ensuring prompt redressal of complaints and timely assistance to children in need. Emphasising child welfare, she said that ensuring quality services for the holistic development and protection of children remains a top priority of the state government.
Diya Kumari directed that children living in child care institutions must be consistently engaged in a structured daily routine that includes nutritious meals, counselling services, education, sports activities, and skill development programmes. She also stressed the need to strengthen counselling services further, with special focus on the mental and emotional well-being of children.
Senior officials were instructed to conduct regular inspections of child care institutions to ensure continuous improvement in service quality and institutional management.
The meeting also directed the preparation and effective implementation of a comprehensive action plan to curb child begging. Strong emphasis was laid on coordinated departmental action against sensitive issues such as child marriage, child labour, and other child-related vulnerabilities.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Additional Chief Secretary (Child Rights Department) Dinesh Kumar and Commissioner Nikiya Gohain, along with other departmental officers.
