Sanjay Singh Launches 5th Phase of “Employment and Social Justice March” from Meerut, Targets BJP Over Jobs, Inflation and Paper Leaks
Meerut/Lucknow, May 2026: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Uttar Pradesh in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Saturday launched the fifth phase of the “Rozgar Do–Samajik Nyay Do” (Give Employment–Give Social Justice) padyatra from the Commissioner Park in Meerut, widely described as the “land of revolution.” The march formally began after paying tribute to freedom fighters and offering floral respects at the statue of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.

The fifth phase of the padyatra will continue from May 16 to May 20, covering the stretch between Meerut and Ghaziabad’s Ghantaghar Chowk. The launch event began with a large public gathering, which witnessed massive participation from supporters, party workers and local residents. According to AAP leaders, the campaign has received unprecedented public support across Meerut, with enthusiastic participation at multiple points along the route.
From the very beginning of the march, Sanjay Singh was welcomed with flower garlands, showers of petals, and slogans raised by supporters. He also stopped at several locations to interact with citizens, traders, youth groups and workers, who gathered in large numbers to witness the padyatra.
Attack on BJP over paper leaks and unemployment
Addressing the public gathering, Sanjay Singh launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that repeated paper leak incidents in BJP-ruled states have destroyed the future of millions of young aspirants. He claimed that the issue is no longer limited to isolated incidents but has become a systemic crisis affecting the entire examination system.

He alleged that including NEET and other competitive examinations, as many as 93 question papers have been leaked so far, affecting nearly 4 crore candidates across the country. Singh further stated that when families of the candidates are included, the crisis has impacted nearly 20 crore people directly or indirectly. He accused the BJP government of “betraying the dreams of the youth” and failing to ensure transparency in recruitment processes.
He said the padyatra is being carried out to demand employment, fairness in recruitment, and justice for unemployed youth whose future, according to him, has been “jeopardised due to corruption and negligence.”
Focus on informal workers and small traders
Sanjay Singh emphasised that the movement is not limited to government jobs but also extends to the rights and dignity of informal workers. He said the struggle includes street vendors, cart pullers, small shopkeepers, and those affected by demolition drives and bulldozer actions in several cities.
He alleged that in cities like Prayagraj, Kashi, Ayodhya, Lucknow, Meerut and Ghaziabad, thousands of small traders and poor families have been displaced without proper rehabilitation or compensation. He said the government has ignored their concerns and failed to provide economic security to the most vulnerable sections of society.
Singh stated that the padyatra is a “people’s movement” aimed at restoring dignity and ensuring economic justice for all sections of society, especially those engaged in informal livelihoods.
Appeal to ASHA workers, teachers and unemployed youth
During his address, Singh appealed to ASHA workers, education volunteers, employment workers, and unemployed youth to join the movement in large numbers. He described the issue of employment as a universal struggle affecting every household where rights are being “snatched away.”
He said the fight for employment is not just about securing government jobs but about ensuring dignity, security, and survival for millions of families. He called upon citizens to turn the padyatra into a mass movement for justice and accountability.
Social justice and caste discrimination issues
Highlighting the issue of social justice, Sanjay Singh said that caste-based discrimination and atrocities against Dalits continue to occur across the country despite constitutional safeguards.
He alleged that in many places, Dalits are still denied equal treatment, including incidents where they are not allowed to ride horses in weddings or are insulted at religious sites. He said such incidents reflect deep-rooted inequality that still exists in society.
Singh asserted that the Constitution drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar guarantees equality, dignity and justice for every citizen, and said AAP is committed to protecting these constitutional values. He added that the padyatra is also a fight to safeguard constitutional rights against discrimination and injustice.
Remarks on inflation, gold prices and economic burden
Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sanjay Singh criticised his appeal asking citizens not to buy gold for a year. He said gold prices have already crossed nearly Rs 1.5 lakh per tola, making it unaffordable for ordinary citizens.
He argued that when 80 crore people in India are surviving on five kilograms of free ration, it is unrealistic to expect them to buy gold. He further alleged that the largest accumulation of gold wealth is with the Prime Minister’s close associates.
Singh also raised concerns over rising inflation and accused the government of failing to control prices of essential commodities, including fuel and food items.
Fuel prices and taxation criticism
On the issue of petrol and diesel prices, Sanjay Singh accused the central government of heavily taxing fuel products over the past 12 years. He claimed that nearly Rs 44 lakh crore has been collected through fuel taxes during this period.
He also alleged that public sector oil companies have earned profits of around Rs 3.5 lakh crore, while consumers continue to face rising fuel prices.
Singh said that even when crude oil prices in the international market were low, Indian consumers were still made to pay high prices. He criticised what he called the lack of transparency and accountability in fuel pricing policies.
He also claimed that geopolitical tensions in West Asia and developments in global energy markets are being used as excuses to further increase fuel prices, instead of providing relief to citizens.
Criticism of foreign visits and governance priorities
Sanjay Singh also targeted Prime Minister Modi over his foreign visits, saying that while citizens are struggling with unemployment and inflation, the Prime Minister is engaged in international travel.
He accused the Prime Minister of ignoring domestic issues and focusing on diplomatic engagements abroad. Singh also made political remarks about the Prime Minister’s interactions with leaders of Muslim-majority countries while allegedly neglecting minority issues within India.
Electoral process and SIR allegations
Raising concerns about electoral processes, Singh referred to Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, alleging irregularities in states like Bihar and West Bengal. He claimed that voter names were added and removed in a biased manner ahead of elections.
He warned that opposition parties and citizens must remain vigilant to ensure free and fair elections. Singh said that the final voter list will reveal what he described as “manipulations” in the system.
Call for unity and constitutional governance
Concluding his address, Sanjay Singh said that politics based on hatred must be rejected and replaced with governance focused on education, healthcare, and welfare. He said AAP believes in providing free and quality education, healthcare and basic services, while accusing the BJP of promoting divisive politics.
He said that arrogance in power is dangerous for democracy and recalled that India’s freedom fighters fought for justice and not for power. He alleged that under the current government, public schools are being shut, healthcare systems are weakening, and inflation is hurting the common citizen the most.
Singh appealed to citizens to support the padyatra and join the movement against unemployment, corruption and social injustice. He urged people to give a missed call on 7500040004 to join the campaign.
He reiterated that India must be governed strictly according to the Constitution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and that secular values must be protected at all costs.
Route and participation
The first day of the padyatra began at Commissioner Park and passed through several key locations including Kachhari Hanuman Temple, Bachcha Park, Khairnagar Chauraha, Ghantaghar, D.N. College and Metro Plaza before concluding at Ganpati Bhavan under Brahmapuri Metro Station.
Large crowds gathered along the route, with locals and party workers participating enthusiastically. The march witnessed continuous support, with people greeting Sanjay Singh at multiple points.
Several senior AAP leaders, including Surendra Chaudhary, Anil Jha, Somendra Dhaka, Manish Singh, Neelam Yadav, Pankaj Avana, and others, were present during the launch event and accompanied the march throughout its first day.
