Revanth Reddy Leads Kodangal Protest, Demands Action Over NEET Paper Leak and Detention of Congress Leaders

Hyderabad, July 2026 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday led a massive protest rally and dharna in Kodangal, his Assembly constituency in Vikarabad district, condemning the detention of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other Opposition leaders during a demonstration in New Delhi over the alleged NEET paper leak and issues affecting students.

The protest witnessed the participation of a large number of Congress leaders, party workers and supporters, who marched through the streets of Kodangal carrying party flags, banners and placards. The rally culminated in a dharna near the statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, where the Chief Minister addressed the gathering and launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Central government over its handling of the examination controversy and the police action against protesters.

Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several senior Congress leaders were detained by Delhi Police on Tuesday while staging a protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence, demanding accountability over the alleged paper leak and action against those responsible for irregularities in competitive examinations.

Addressing the protesters, Revanth Reddy described the detention of Congress leaders as an assault on democratic values and accused the Centre of suppressing the voices of students and the Opposition.

He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had failed to safeguard the future of lakhs of students aspiring for higher education and government careers. Calling for immediate accountability, the Telangana Chief Minister demanded that the Prime Minister remove Dharmendra Pradhan from the Union Cabinet.

“If the Prime Minister fails to dismiss the Education Minister, our fight will continue from the streets to Parliament until justice is delivered to the students,” Revanth Reddy declared.

The Chief Minister also alleged that the NEET examination paper leak had links to BJP-ruled states, claiming that question papers were sold for huge sums of money in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. He accused BJP leaders of being involved in the alleged irregularities and demanded a thorough investigation to identify and punish all those responsible.

According to Revanth Reddy, students from across the country have been demanding the resignation of the Union Education Minister and strict action against those behind the examination scandal. Instead of responding to these demands, he alleged, the government resorted to police action against peaceful protesters in the national capital.

The Telangana Chief Minister claimed that hundreds of students were injured in the police action during the protests in Delhi and alleged that several protesters were unaccounted for following the crackdown. He further stated that when Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi came forward to support the agitating students through a peaceful demonstration outside the Prime Minister’s residence, they too were detained and allegedly manhandled by the police.

Revanth Reddy also accused the Central government of preventing a discussion on the NEET controversy in Parliament. He alleged that pressure had been exerted on Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to block a debate on the issue, thereby denying Parliament an opportunity to address the concerns of students across the country.

Invoking the legacy of the Gandhi family, the Chief Minister said the Congress had a long history of sacrifice for the nation, recalling that former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi had laid down their lives in service of the country.

In a strongly worded political attack, Revanth Reddy referred to the BJP as the “British Janata Party” and alleged that its ideological roots lay with Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi.

“This is not merely a political contest between the BJP and the Congress. It is a battle between the followers of Mahatma Gandhi and the followers of Nathuram Godse,” he said.

Expressing confidence about the party’s future, Revanth Reddy asserted that the BJP would be defeated in the next general elections and predicted that Rahul Gandhi would emerge as the country’s next Prime Minister. He urged Congress workers to continue mobilising public support and stand united with students seeking transparency, accountability and reforms in the country’s examination system.
