Adani Power Reports 47% Jump in Q1 Profit, Posts Record Quarterly EBITDA as Expansion Gains Momentum

Ahmedabad, July 2026 : Adani Power Ltd. on Wednesday reported a robust financial performance for the first quarter of FY27, with consolidated profit after tax (PAT) rising 47.2 per cent year-on-year to Rs 4,867 crore, driven by strong operational growth, higher electricity sales and disciplined control over finance costs despite an ongoing capital expenditure programme.

The company posted a consolidated PAT of Rs 3,305 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Adani Power also recorded a significant rise in revenue, with consolidated continuing total revenue increasing 26.6 per cent to Rs 17,936 crore during the April-June quarter of FY27, compared with Rs 14,167 crore in the same period last year. The company attributed the growth to higher electricity sales volumes and improved power tariffs.

The quarter also marked a milestone for the company as it reported its highest-ever quarterly EBITDA from continuing operations. Consolidated continuing EBITDA rose 21.6 per cent to Rs 6,983 crore, up from Rs 5,744 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY26. The performance reflected the company’s operational efficiency and resilient profitability despite higher fuel costs.

Power generation and sales continued to remain strong during the quarter. Consolidated power sales increased 16.9 per cent to 28.8 billion units (BU), compared with 24.6 BU in the same quarter last year. The growth was supported by higher operating capacity across plants and sustained demand for electricity across the country.

Commenting on the results, Adani Power Chief Executive Officer S.B. Khyalia said the company had once again demonstrated the strength of its cost-efficient generation portfolio and operational excellence by delivering record quarterly earnings.

He said the company had firmly consolidated its position on the path towards expanding its installed generation capacity to 45 GW, with rapid progress on multiple expansion projects and strong cash generation from ongoing operations providing the necessary financial support.

Khyalia also highlighted the company’s strategic expansion plans beyond thermal power. He said Adani Power was strengthening its portfolio through acquisitions while simultaneously diversifying into hydroelectric power projects in India and overseas. The company is also preparing to explore opportunities in the nuclear energy sector as part of its long-term growth strategy.

“As we expand our footprint through the acquisition of Jaiprakash Associates’ power assets, we are also diversifying into domestic and international hydropower projects and preparing ourselves for opportunities in the nuclear power sector. Our objective is to support India’s long-term development by providing reliable, affordable and competitive electricity,” he said.

The company’s long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) continued to contribute significantly to its performance. Electricity sales under PPAs increased 30.3 per cent to 24.5 billion units, while average tariff realisation under these contracts improved 8.5 per cent to Rs 5.95 per kilowatt-hour during the quarter.

Revenue from merchant and short-term power sales also witnessed healthy growth. Average tariff realisation in this segment rose 13.1 per cent to Rs 7.04 per kilowatt-hour, supported by strong electricity demand and favourable market conditions.

During the quarter, Adani Power further strengthened its asset base by acquiring the 180 MW Churk Thermal Power Plant, along with a 24 per cent equity stake in Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited, which has an installed capacity of 2,220 MW, and an 11.49 per cent stake in Prayagraj Power Generation Company Limited, which operates a 1,980 MW thermal power project.

These acquisitions were completed under the approved resolution plan for Jaiprakash Associates Limited as part of the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP).

With record quarterly earnings, continued capacity expansion and strategic investments across multiple energy segments, Adani Power has reinforced its position as one of India’s leading private power producers while advancing its long-term vision of building a diversified and future-ready energy portfolio.
