Chief Minister Inaugurates FSL Lab in Raigarh During “Good Governance Festival” to Strengthen Scientific Crime Investigation
Raipur, May 2026: During the ongoing Good Governance Festival (Sushasan Tihar), Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai formally inaugurated the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) near Rajamahal in Raigarh. The launch of this state-of-the-art facility is expected to significantly strengthen the police investigation system in Raigarh, Sakti, and Sarangarh-Bilaigarh districts.
With the establishment of this advanced forensic laboratory, the need to send critical samples to Bilaspur for scientific examination in serious cases such as murder, rape, suicide, and NDPS (narcotics-related cases) will be largely eliminated. This will make the investigation process faster, more efficient, and locally accessible.
Chief Minister Sai said that the state government is continuously working to strengthen law and order through modern technology and scientific investigation systems. He emphasized that in today’s time, criminal investigations cannot rely only on traditional methods. Scientific evidence and forensic analysis have become the most effective tools for solving crimes and ensuring justice.
He added that the launch of the Raigarh FSL lab will greatly benefit the police force, enabling them to conduct investigations in a more systematic and accurate manner. The availability of advanced forensic support at the local level will enhance the efficiency of crime detection and strengthen the overall justice delivery system.
Finance Minister OP Choudhary described the inauguration of the Regional FSL as a historic step for Raigarh district. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sai, the state is steadily strengthening law enforcement using modern technology and scientific resources. According to him, the new laboratory will make criminal investigations faster, more transparent, and more effective.
He further stated that earlier, police had to depend on the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Bilaspur for analysis of blood samples, viscera, slides, narcotics, chemicals, and alcohol testing. This often led to delays in investigations and slowed down case disposal. With the new regional FSL in Raigarh, most of these tests can now be conducted locally, reducing turnaround time and helping in quicker resolution of cases.
Officials said that the new facility will significantly reduce dependency on external laboratories and improve the speed of forensic reporting. This will directly contribute to faster investigations and timely justice for victims.
The introduction of a modern mobile forensic unit will further strengthen police investigation capabilities by enabling on-spot scientific analysis at crime scenes.
The event was attended by Lok Sabha MP Radheshyam Rathia, Rajya Sabha MP Devendra Pratap Singh, Raigarh Municipal Corporation Mayor Jeevardhan Chauhan, Collector Mayank Chaturvedi, Senior Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh, along with other public representatives, administrative officials, dignitaries, and a large number of local residents.
