Special Approval Granted for Government to Bear Admission Fees of Minor Girls up to Class 10 in Badlapur School Case

Mumbai, May 2026 : In a sensitive decision, the government has granted special approval for bearing the entire admission fees of two minor girls up to Class 10 in order to ensure that their education remains uninterrupted following an incident that took place at a school in Badlapur in August 2024.

It may be recalled that the then School Education Minister had announced that the government would bear the educational expenses of the affected girls. Following this, as per the wishes of their parents, both girls were admitted to Junior KG in the concerned schools during the academic year 2024–25.

According to the government resolution, the education expenses of both girls will now be covered under the “Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.” Under this special one-time approval, all admission fees from Class 1 to Class 10 for Nirbhaya No. 1, and pending Senior KG as well as admission fees from Class 1 to Class 10 for Nirbhaya No. 2, will be paid by the government.

The approval has been granted as a special case on a one-time basis.

As per the order, the admission fees equivalent to the prescribed amounts will be paid to the schools where both girls are currently enrolled for each respective academic year.

The necessary implementation of this decision will be carried out through the concerned Education Officer (Primary), Zilla Parishad.
