Students Thrilled After Sitting Inside Fighter Plane Cockpit
Watching Aircraft Take Off on Runway Boosts Confidence
Raipur, May 2026 : In a unique initiative aimed at giving wings to the dreams of children from small towns and villages, the district administration of Sakti organised a special airport exposure visit for 24 meritorious students from the district. The initiative not only introduced the students to the world of modern aviation but also inspired them to dream bigger and believe in new possibilities.

For many of the students, it was the first time they had ever visited an airport or seen aircraft up close. Until now, fighter jets and airplanes had only been things they saw in books, films or on television screens. Witnessing them in real life turned the educational trip into an unforgettable experience filled with excitement and curiosity.
To select participants for the visit, the district administration had organised a district-level competition examination on May 13 based on general knowledge and aptitude. Twenty-four students who performed exceptionally well in the test were chosen for the airport tour.
On the morning of May 16, the students departed from the District Education Officer’s office in Sakti by bus for Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur.
Upon reaching the airport, the students were taken on a detailed tour of the airport premises. During the visit, flying officers and technicians explained the functioning of fighter planes and civilian aircraft in a simple and interactive manner. The students learned about various parts of an aircraft, flight systems, aircraft design and aviation technology.
The most thrilling moment of the trip came when the students were given an opportunity to sit one by one inside the cockpit of a fighter aircraft. The experience left them excited and amazed.
Watching airplanes take off and land on the runway from close quarters was another unforgettable highlight of the visit. The live experience helped the students better understand airport operations and aviation systems while also boosting their confidence and aspirations.
As part of the programme, a quiz competition related to aviation and airport operations was also conducted. Students who answered correctly were encouraged with gifts and appreciation.
The educational visit provided the students with practical exposure to modern transportation systems, aviation technology and aircraft operations. The initiative by the district administration received appreciation from both students and parents.
The excitement on the faces of the children was clearly visible after returning from the trip. Several students expressed their desire to become pilots, Air Force officers and aerospace engineers in the future, inspired by the experience.
