As preparations for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections intensify after a decade, all political parties are gearing up for the upcoming polls. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is set to visit Jammu and Kashmir again to support the election campaign. A senior Congress leader confirmed that Gandhi will address two rallies on September 4 to campaign for the alliance candidates, following his recent visit to Srinagar to strategize for the elections.
AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir announced that Gandhi will address rallies in both Kashmir and Jammu, responding to the requests of the people and alliance candidates who sought his presence in the Union Territory. Gandhi’s first rally will be held at Doru Stadium, while the second will take place in the Sangaldan area of Jammu. Mir expressed satisfaction with Gandhi’s decision to join the campaign, noting that this visit is just the beginning, with the potential for more visits in later phases of the election. He also mentioned that Congress has prepared a list of over 40 star campaigners, including party leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi.
The elections for the 90 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir will be conducted in three phases. The first phase is scheduled for September 18, the second on September 25, and the third on October 1. The results will be announced on October 4.
