BJP Slams Rahul Gandhi Over ‘Traitor’ Remark, Calls His Language “Anti-India” and “Frustrated”

New Delhi, May 2026 : A political controversy erupted on Wednesday after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders strongly criticised Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his recent remarks in which he allegedly called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah “traitors” and accused them of working to “sell India”.

Reacting sharply, BJP leaders accused Rahul Gandhi of using language that resembles that of an “enemy nation” and attempting to create unrest in the country. Union Minister Giriraj Singh led the attack, alleging that the Congress leader’s statements reflect frustration and political desperation.

Singh said Rahul Gandhi’s rhetoric is not in line with democratic discourse. “He speaks in a way that only an adversarial country would speak. The world already knows India’s economic strength; it does not need validation from Rahul Gandhi. Today, he appears to be attempting to create unrest in the country,” Singh said.

He further added that the people of India, especially the youth, stand firmly with PM Modi and Amit Shah. “I believe Rahul Gandhi is in frustration, and this frustration comes from the Gandhi family’s hunger for power. He has become mentally unstable,” the Union Minister remarked.

Bihar BJP President Sanjay Saraogi also strongly criticised the Congress leader, claiming that the people have already rejected the party. Calling Prime Minister Modi an “icon of leadership”, Saraogi said Rahul Gandhi’s language would not be acceptable to the citizens of the country.

BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari went a step further, accusing Rahul Gandhi of having an “anarchic mindset”. He alleged that the Congress leader’s remarks mirror the ideology of “urban Naxals” and the “tukde-tukde gang”. “He has called 140 crore Indians traitors, which shows his mindset is aligned with anti-democratic forces,” Bhandari said.

He further claimed that Rahul Gandhi is not just a political opponent but “an opponent of India’s democracy itself” and alleged that he represents fringe and anti-national elements.

Another BJP spokesperson, Ajay Alok, made a controversial claim that every generation of leadership from the Gandhi family has been “traitorous in nature”, adding that such accusations against Prime Minister Modi do not affect them as they consider it an achievement.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary said the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi were repeatedly making such statements to divert public attention due to continuous electoral losses.

Meanwhile, BJP MP and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur also responded sharply, referring to the Emergency period. He said, “When Rahul Gandhi talks about the Constitution, I want to remind him that democracy and constitutional values were crushed in 1975 when Indira Gandhi imposed Emergency. It was not the Constitution of India but the Constitution of Indira.”

The remarks have further intensified the ongoing political confrontation between the BJP and the Congress, with leaders from both sides continuing to exchange sharp accusations amid an already charged political atmosphere.
