BJP Launches National Membership Drive ‘Sangthan Parv 2024’ with PM Modi as First Enrollee
New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) national membership campaign, ‘Sangthan Parv, Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024,’ at the party headquarters.
PM Modi became the first member of the campaign by giving a missed call to 8800002024, after which he received an SMS to complete his membership registration. This event marked the official launch of BJP’s drive to expand its membership across the nation.
Party President J.P. Nadda endorsed PM Modi’s membership, initiating the nationwide campaign. Following Modi’s registration, senior leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also enrolled as members. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, along with other prominent figures like Piyush Goyal, Bhupendra Yadav, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, and BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde, attended the event.
The campaign aims to enlist veteran leaders such as L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi. Addressing the gathering, Amit Shah lauded the BJP’s democratic membership process, contrasting it with that of other political parties. He expressed confidence that the party would exceed its previous membership numbers, targeting over 10 crore members.
Shah also highlighted key achievements of the Modi government, including the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, the abrogation of Article 370, and the development of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. He emphasized that this membership drive is crucial to BJP’s vision of a developed India. J.P. Nadda reiterated that all BJP members must renew their membership every six years, in line with the party’s democratic principles.
The campaign will unfold in phases: the first phase will conclude on September 25, followed by the second phase from October 1 to 15, and an active membership drive from October 16 to 31. Membership targets will be set for each unit, from booth to state levels, based on the party’s performance in recent elections.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh acknowledged the decline in public trust in leaders but highlighted PM Modi’s commitment to integrity and transparency, which has guided the party’s approach to politics and governance. The first 15 days of the campaign will focus on door-to-door outreach in every booth, followed by larger public activities.
