Mumbai, May 2026 : Mumbai’s cricketing fraternity came together in grand fashion on Saturday as the captains and leading players of the participating franchises assembled for the official launch of the T20 Mumbai League 2026 and the inaugural T20 Mumbai Women’s League. The event marked the beginning of what promises to be a thrilling fortnight of cricket, with the tournaments scheduled to commence on June 1 and culminate with the finals at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on June 13.

The launch ceremony brought together some of Mumbai cricket’s biggest names, including India internationals, emerging talents, franchise owners, administrators, and officials of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). One of the most anticipated figures at the launch was Arcs Andheri captain Shivam Dube, whose five consecutive sixes in the league’s inaugural season remain one of the competition’s most memorable moments. Dube joked that he would try his best to recreate that feat this year, although he stopped short of guaranteeing a repeat performance.

Eagle Thane Strikers captain Shardul Thakur praised the quality of batting talent on display across the franchises. He noted that Mumbai has consistently produced some of India’s finest batsmen and predicted an intensely competitive tournament where every player would be eager to make a mark.
