Uniform Civil Code to be Implemented in Madhya Pradesh Soon: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Bhopal, June 2026 : Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has said that there is nothing wrong with the national aspiration of having one flag, one Constitution, and one law across the country. He noted that three states have already implemented the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), and the Madhya Pradesh Government is moving rapidly in the same direction. The Chief Minister stated that Madhya Pradesh will soon become one of the states to implement the UCC. For this purpose, the State Government has constituted a high-level committee under the chairmanship of retired Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Desai. The committee is currently seeking views from various sections of society at the district level. Addressing the India@2047 Conclave in New Delhi on Wednesday, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that all tribal communities in Madhya Pradesh would remain outside the purview of the UCC and would continue to enjoy the freedom to follow their traditional customs and practices. He noted that a similar provision has also been adopted in Gujarat.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Government works beyond considerations of caste, religion, and community when it comes to recognising merit and capability. He cited the example of President Smt. Droupadi Murmu, who comes from a tribal background and today occupies the highest constitutional office in the country. The Chief Minister said that the State Government would move forward with the implementation of the UCC with an open mind and a spirit of inclusiveness. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to making Madhya Pradesh a leading state across all sectors.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that at a time when the world is facing challenges related to fuel security, the State Government has purchased an Electric Vehicle (EV) in response to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s call for fuel conservation and environmental protection. He said that he would now undertake regular travel in an EV. The environment-friendly vehicle will help conserve fuel and reduce air pollution.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the State Government is working continuously to enhance farmers’ incomes. Efforts have been made to connect rural households with dairy production, animal husbandry and modern agricultural practices. Significant improvements have been achieved in the provision of electricity, drinking water and road infrastructure in villages. He stated that the Government has actively promoted industrialisation, resulting in investment commitments worth ₹10 lakh crore in the State. Industrial units have become operational in industrial parks, generating employment opportunities for local youth.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹30 lakh crore were signed during the Global Investors Summit (GIS)-2025. Nearly 30 per cent of the proposed investments have already begun materialising on the ground, which he described as a major achievement of the State Government.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, highlighting the importance of education in the State’s development, said that from the formation of Madhya Pradesh until 2002–03, the State had only five medical colleges. Their number has now increased to 30, including seven new medical colleges established during the last two years alone. He further informed that three new State universities have been established in the names of Tantya Mama in Khargone, Tatya Tope in Guna and Rani Avantibai Lodhi in Sagar. PM Excellence Colleges are now operational in all 55 districts of the State. Agriculture faculties have also been introduced in universities, while new Sandipani schools are being opened at a rapid pace. The Government is working extensively to strengthen both the educational and cultural landscape of Madhya Pradesh.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Global Investors Summit (GIS) had previously been held in Indore, and that his Government organised it in the State capital, Bhopal, for the first time. Prior to the summit, Regional Industry Conclaves were organised in cities such as Rewa, Gwalior, Narmadapuram and Katni to attract investors at the divisional and district levels. He noted that every region of Madhya Pradesh possesses unique strengths and potential. The State Government has introduced 18 industry-focused policies, attracting investments across large industries, small-scale industries and the MSME sector. Production has already commenced in several manufacturing units, and the industrial expansion witnessed in the State has generated more than two lakh employment opportunities. The Chief Minister announced that industries established with a focus on employment generation will receive financial assistance of ₹5,000 per worker per month for a period of ten years. The Government will continue to extend support to industries across other categories as well.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that while disrespecting any religion is not part of India’s culture, there is nothing wrong with taking pride in one’s own faith. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is strengthening its distinct identity on the global stage. He said that governments are now implementing court decisions in a peaceful and harmonious manner, citing the construction of the grand Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya as a notable example.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, referring to the Prime Minister Shri Modi’s vision of ‘Virasat Se Vikas’,  said that Madhya Pradesh has a rich historical legacy. He highlighted the architectural heritage of Dhar, the land associated with King Bhoj and stated that the idol of Maa Vagdevi would be reinstated at the Bhojshala complex. The Chief Minister added that development works would be accelerated in accordance with judicial decisions.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasised that religious tourism contributes significantly to economic growth and local employment generation. He said that the development of Bhojshala would open new avenues for tourism in Dhar.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Government remains committed to the welfare of women. Under the Ladli Behna Yojana, 36 instalments of financial assistance have already been transferred to all eligible beneficiaries. He informed that since the launch of the scheme, financial assistance exceeding ₹55,000 crore has been provided to Ladli Behnas across the State.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Madhya Pradesh Government is fully committed to realising the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 and is working with dedication to build a Viksit Madhya Pradesh @2047.
