Bhopal, June 2026 : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has established itself as the ‘Pharmacy of the World’. Today, the world views India not merely as a large market, but also as a trusted manufacturing destination, a reliable global supply chain partner and an emerging economic powerhouse. He stated that Madhya Pradesh is playing an increasingly significant role in India’s journey towards becoming a global pharma hub. The state is entering a new era of investment, driving unprecedented economic and industrial growth.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav noted that Haleon has chosen Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh to set up its first manufacturing facility in India. He described Madhya Pradesh as a land of opportunities and success, adding that the partnership between the State Government and Haleon marks the beginning of a new chapter of mutual trust and limitless possibilities. The Chief Minister emphasised that the confidence reposed by industries and investors from across India and the world in Madhya Pradesh stems from its industry-friendly policies, and that this trust is the state’s greatest asset.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has addressed and performed Bhoomi Poojan virtually for Haleon Group’s first manufacturing unit in Pithampur on Monday. He performed the Bhoomi Poojan of the new unit by pressing a remote button symbolically.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is transforming into a self-reliant and future-ready state. He assured that all investors seeking to establish industries in the state would receive full support from the government at every stage, from project establishment to commencement of production.
It was informed that the Haleon manufacturing facility will generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for nearly 1,000 people. Appreciating the company’s commitment to providing up to 30 per cent employment opportunities to women, the Chief Minister said that this initiative would further strengthen the State Government’s efforts towards women’s empowerment.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, congratulating Haleon Group on the historic occasion, assured the company of the government’s continued support. He noted that the company has initially invested ₹2,000 crore in Madhya Pradesh and expressed confidence that, through collective efforts, this investment could eventually grow from ₹2,000 crore to ₹2 lakh crore. The Chief Minister also extended a warm invitation to Haleon and other investors to invest in Madhya Pradesh without hesitation.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav felicitated Haleon CEO Shri Brian McNamara with a traditional angavastram and memento. Shri McNamara also presented a souvenir to the Chief Minister and expressed gratitude for the support extended by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted that India is the world’s third-largest producer of pharmaceuticals by volume, with more than 3,000 pharmaceutical companies and over 10,500 manufacturing units operating across the country. He said that Madhya Pradesh is home to more than 300 pharmaceutical companies and over 30 API and bulk drug manufacturers. Medicines produced in the state are exported to the United States, Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America. More than 75 medical device manufacturing units are also operational in the state. The pharmaceutical sector contributes nearly 20 per cent of Madhya Pradesh’s total exports, making the state not only a manufacturing centre but also a well-established global export hub. Industrial regions such as Indore, Pithampur, Mandideep, Bhopal, Dewas and Ujjain are rapidly evolving into major pharmaceutical manufacturing clusters.
Expressing satisfaction, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the investment seed sown during the ‘Invest in MP Roadshow’ held in the United Kingdom in 2024 has now materialised in Pithampur. He remarked that Haleon’s decision to establish its first manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh demonstrates the state’s growing attractiveness as an investment destination. The Chief Minister added that the company has chosen what is undoubtedly one of the most suitable and profitable destinations in the country for its new facility.
Speaking on the occasion, Haleon Group CEO Shri Brian McNamara said that this would be the company’s first manufacturing facility in India and expressed delight at establishing operations in Madhya Pradesh. He described India as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and Madhya Pradesh as one of its most rapidly emerging states. He stated that the facility represents the on-ground implementation of Haleon’s India vision. The CEO stated that the company has currently invested £175 million in Madhya Pradesh and plans to further expand its operations in Pithampur, which serves as Central India’s logistics hub.
Haleon India President (Indian Subcontinent) Shri Kedar Lele said that the company has established its largest manufacturing plant in South Asia in Madhya Pradesh. He noted that the decision to set up the facility in Pithampur is the result of 18 months of continuous engagement and close coordination with the State Government. Spread across nearly 40 acres, the new facility will be the largest unit in Haleon’s global supply chain network.
Haleon and the New Manufacturing Facility in Pithampur
Haleon is one of the world’s leading consumer healthcare companies, with operations in more than 170 countries. The company manufactures products in categories such as oral health, digestive health, pain relief and respiratory care (PRS), as well as vitamins, minerals and supplements.
The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, being developed across more than 40 acres in the Smart Industrial Park at Pithampur, will primarily manufacture oral healthcare products. Products manufactured at the facility will cater not only to domestic demand in India but will also be exported to markets across the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East and Africa.
The project is expected to create significant opportunities for local MSMEs, supplier networks, transportation services, logistics providers, and other ancillary industries, thereby contributing substantially to the region’s industrial ecosystem and economic growth.
