Complete Pending MSEDCL Works in Raigad Before the Monsoon: Minister of State for Energy Meghna Sakore-Bordikar

Directions Issued to Install 25 Transformers of 100 kVA Capacity in the Awas–Revdanda Coastal Belt of Alibag

Mumbai, June 2026 : Minister of State for Energy Meghna Sakore-Bordikar has directed that all pending works of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited in Raigad district be completed on priority before the onset of the monsoon.

She also instructed Mahavitaran to organize a special customer grievance redressal camp at the earliest in the coastal belt stretching from Awas to Revdanda in Alibag taluka, considering the growing number of electricity consumers in the region. In view of the increasing power demand, she further directed the utility to install 25 transformers of 100 kVA capacity in the area.

The directions were issued during a meeting held at the office of the MSEB Holding Company to review the rising electricity demand in the Awas–Revdanda coastal region. The meeting was attended by Pen Circle Superintending Engineer Dhanraj Bikkad, Alibag Division Executive Engineer Rajesh Bhagat, Additional Executive Engineer Akash Tayade, Executive Engineer Avinash Pagare, along with Satish Dharap, Vaikunth Patil, Sanket Joshi, Uday Kathe, and other officials.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Sakore-Bordikar noted that coastal villages between Awas and Revdanda in Alibag taluka have witnessed significant growth in marine and beach tourism in recent years. The increasing influx of tourists has encouraged local residents to establish small cottages, homestays, and other tourism-related facilities in their homes, creating new livelihood opportunities.

She said that the rapid expansion of tourism activities has led to a substantial rise in electricity consumption in the region. Therefore, Mahavitaran officials and employees should take immediate steps to address power-related issues and ensure a reliable electricity supply for both residents and tourism establishments.

The Minister further instructed the utility to organize special outreach camps in the area to resolve consumer grievances promptly. These camps should provide a platform for residents and business owners to report electricity-related issues and obtain timely solutions.

In addition, she directed officials to use these camps to spread awareness about the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, ensuring that more consumers are informed about the benefits of rooftop solar installations, available subsidies, and opportunities to reduce electricity expenses through renewable energy.

The Minister emphasized that strengthening the electricity infrastructure in the rapidly developing coastal tourism belt is essential to support economic growth, improve consumer satisfaction, and meet the region’s future energy requirements. She called upon Mahavitaran officials to work proactively and complete all necessary infrastructure upgrades before the monsoon season begins.
