Telangana to Build Rs 110-Crore Ambedkar Knowledge Centre as Statewide Learning and Coaching Hub

Hyderabad, June 2026 : The Telangana government is set to establish the Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Knowledge Centre in the heart of Hyderabad at an estimated cost of Rs 110 crore, with the ambitious objective of creating a world-class knowledge and learning hub for students, job aspirants and youth across the state. The facility is expected to provide academic resources, technology-enabled learning platforms, digital libraries, career guidance and free coaching support to thousands of students, particularly those from economically weaker sections.

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday inspected the proposed site near Lower Tank Bund, where the centre will be constructed. He also reviewed plans for a new SC hostel at Nimboli Adda in Kachiguda, which will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore and later transformed into a modern knowledge facility.

According to officials, the Ambedkar Knowledge Centre will be a multi-storeyed complex comprising a cellar, ground floor and ten additional floors. The facility will house study circles, digital libraries, seminar halls, conference facilities and advanced learning infrastructure designed to promote academic excellence and skill development.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the centre is envisioned as much more than a physical structure. It will serve as a continuous educational platform aimed at empowering millions of young people by providing access to quality learning resources and career opportunities.

A major focus of the initiative is to address the challenges faced by students from rural and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Many children of daily wage earners, farmers and small traders are compelled to travel to Hyderabad and spend substantial amounts on accommodation and coaching while preparing for competitive examinations. The government, he said, has taken a forward-looking decision to reduce this financial burden and ensure that quality coaching is available to all, irrespective of their socio-economic background.

The centre will also become a key component of the government’s employment and youth empowerment strategy. Besides issuing recruitment notifications, the state plans to use the facility to provide free coaching for various competitive examinations. Top educators and subject experts will deliver lectures from the Hyderabad headquarters, which will be digitally streamed across Telangana.

To ensure that students in every part of the state benefit, the government plans to establish Ambedkar Knowledge Centres in all Assembly constituencies. These centres will be interconnected through a robust digital network, allowing students to access high-quality coaching and educational content from their hometowns without relocating to Hyderabad.

Bhatti Vikramarka said seminars, workshops and interactive sessions featuring renowned national and international intellectuals will also be organised at the centre, transforming it into a premier platform for knowledge exchange and intellectual development.

The Knowledge Centre will come up at the existing Ambedkar Bhavan site. The Deputy Chief Minister revealed that Rs 5 crore has already been sanctioned for the complete demolition of the old structure to pave the way for the new project.

During his visit, he also highlighted the importance of the proposed hostel at Nimboli Adda, describing it as a long-standing aspiration of Dalit and underprivileged communities. The hostel, which has historically provided accommodation to poor students and helped many of them achieve success in public service and other professions, will undergo complete modernisation.

The facility will be renamed the Babu Jagjivan Ram Knowledge Centre and upgraded with modern amenities to better serve future generations of students.

The Deputy Chief Minister stated that financial and administrative approvals for both projects have already been granted, reflecting the government’s commitment to educational advancement and social empowerment. He stressed that these centres should be viewed as modern temples of knowledge that will help thousands of students improve their academic capabilities and career prospects.

Accompanied by Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar and other public representatives, Bhatti Vikramarka reiterated that the government is determined to eliminate the coaching-related hardships faced by unemployed youth and create a more equitable educational ecosystem.

He said the state’s long-term vision is to establish a comprehensive network of knowledge centres across Telangana, enabling students from poor, backward, marginalised and middle-class families to access quality coaching and learning opportunities close to home. The initiative, he added, reflects the government’s broader commitment to building a welfare-oriented state where education and employment opportunities are accessible to all.
