Government Issues Tenders for Five Redevelopment Projects Including Site Opposite Shankar Nagar BTI Ground

Tenders Issued by Housing and Infrastructure Development Board Under Redevelopment Scheme

Raipur, June 2026 : The Chhattisgarh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board is set to launch five major redevelopment projects across various cities in the state. This initiative marks a significant step by the Chhattisgarh government toward urban development, optimal utilization of government assets and the expansion of modern civic amenities.

These projects will be developed under the state’s Redevelopment Policy. The Housing and Environment Department has been designated as the nodal department, while the Chhattisgarh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board has been entrusted with the responsibility of implementing the projects.

The Board has prepared Preliminary Project Reports (PPRs) and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for these redevelopment projects. A transparent tender process has also been put in place for selecting private developers and ensuring effective project implementation.

The proposed projects have already received in-principle approval from the Council of Ministers. Subsequently, a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary on May 27, 2026, held detailed discussions on the final framework of all five projects and approved them.

The total area covered by the proposed projects is approximately 19.14 acres and, according to the revised guideline rates for 2025-26, their estimated value is around Rs 250.30 crore.

The projects will be developed at:

  • BTI Road, Shankar Nagar (Raipur)
  • Club Para (Mahasamund)
  • Kailash Nagar (Rajnandgaon)
  • Katghora (Korba)
  • Chandni Chowk Phase-II (Jagdalpur)

The Housing and Infrastructure Development Board has already issued tenders for all five redevelopment schemes.

The proposed project in Raipur holds special significance. Located opposite the BTI Ground in the prominent and developed area of Shankar Nagar, near Sindhu Bhavan, the site lies in a major hub of educational, administrative, commercial and residential activities. The development of this project is expected to enhance modern infrastructure in the area while ensuring better utilization of government assets.

Under the redevelopment model, dilapidated and underutilized government properties will be replaced with modern and well-planned infrastructure. Importantly, these projects will not require any additional financial burden on the government. The value of government land itself will serve as the financial resource for the projects.

This approach will ensure optimal utilization of government land while also generating additional revenue for the state.

The initiative also presents attractive opportunities for private developers, who will have the chance to develop projects on prime land parcels located in key urban areas. A clear policy framework, transparent tendering process and partnership with a government agency are expected to ensure confidence and stability in project execution.

Housing and Environment Minister O. P. Choudhary said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government is committed to giving a new direction to urban development.

He said that through the Redevelopment Policy, unused and dilapidated government assets will be transformed into modern and functional infrastructure. This will improve the efficiency and aesthetics of cities while ensuring better use of public resources.

The minister added that public-private partnerships would accelerate modern and citizen-centric urban development.

Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board, Anurag Singhdeo, said that the Board is establishing a new work culture of redevelopment in the state.

“These projects are not limited to building construction; they are efforts toward the comprehensive transformation of urban areas,” he said.

He added that the proposed project opposite BTI Ground in Shankar Nagar would emerge as an ideal model of urban development for Raipur. The Board is advancing these projects with a focus on quality, transparency and timely implementation.

Commissioner Avnish Kumar Sharan reviewed the projects during a TL meeting today and directed officials to prepare and submit proposals for eight additional redevelopment projects at the earliest.
