Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Inspect Rain Damage at Farmers’ Dam
Latur : Heavy rains on September 2 affected 32 revenue circles in Latur district. In response, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited the Farmers’ Dam to assess the damage caused by the downpour. They inspected crop damage in Her and Lohara Shiwar of Udgir taluka and discussed the situation directly with affected farmers.
During the visit, Chief Minister Shinde assured farmers that maximum compensation would be provided, disregarding the usual rules and norms, even those of the NDRF. “The state government firmly stands behind the farmers and will extend full support during this time of loss,” said Shinde. Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis echoed these sentiments, promising swift aid to the farmers.
Accompanying them were Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale, State Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Sanjay Bansode, former MLA Govind Kendra, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Anmol Sagar, Udgir Sub-Divisional Officer Sushant Shinde, and Tehsildar Ram Borgaonkar.
The heavy rains on September 2 caused extensive damage to soybean and other crops in the revenue circles of Udgir and Jalkot talukas. The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister interacted with the farmers and assured them of immediate compensation.
Following the rains in Marathwada, divisional commissioners and district collectors have been instructed to conduct immediate panchnamas (damage assessments). During today’s inspection in Latur district, it was confirmed that the soybean crops remain waterlogged, and the panchnama will be conducted on a priority basis. Relief will be provided to farmers as soon as possible. Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized that relief for the damage will be expedited.
