Forest department arrested the main accused in the illegal hunting of Hanuman langurs
Chhattisgarh Forest Department has arrested the main accused Ramadhar in the case of illegal hunting of eight Hanuman langurs in village Belgaum of Saja forest range. This action was taken on the instructions of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Forest Force Chief Shri V. Srinivas Rao and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Shri Sudhir Agarwal. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri Rao has given instructions to take continuous action in such cases. This action was taken on 5 September 2024 by the State Flying Squad under the leadership of Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) of Durg Circle Dr. Kenili Machio and Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Shri Chandrashekhar Pardeshi.
Forest department officials said that a gun was recovered from the accused, which was used in the poaching incident on August 28, 2024. The arrest was made by Range Officer of Dhamdha, Smt. Lakshmi Aditya and Range Officer of Saja, Shri P.R. Lasel, with the important support of Deputy Forest Officer (SDO) of Bemetara, Shri V.N. Dubey and other forest department officials.
