Protests Erupt in PoJK Over the Disappearance of Raja Mudassir

In Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), incidents of enforced disappearances are on the rise, causing significant concern among the local population. The recent disappearance of Raja Mudassir has sparked widespread protests across PoJK.

Raja Mudassir, a resident of PoJK, went missing on Friday, leading to demonstrations in various locations. His family members spearheaded the protests, demanding his safe and unconditional release. Protesters criticized the local administration and security forces, holding placards and chanting slogans.

Local reports suggest that Mudassir was abducted by security forces during Ramadan, and his whereabouts have remained unknown since. A community leader expressed the collective anguish, stating, “No one can even imagine the pain Mudassir’s family must be enduring. The youth are the strength of a nation, yet PoJK’s administration is abducting them. Right now, no one knows where our beloved is. This isn’t just a punishment for one person; it’s a punishment for the entire region. If the activist is not returned safely, this protest will surely escalate.”

Another protester added, “We are exhausted. Our brother has been missing for months. We’ve filed complaints and reached out to the authorities, but there has been no response. Today, hundreds of villagers are here again, and we’re making one last plea to the authorities. If Mudassir isn’t returned, we will intensify our protests.”
