Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel gifts two new four-lane bridges to Gondal
Gandhinagar : Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has granted in-principle approval for allocating ₹56.84 crore to build two new four-lane bridges in Gondal. The two bridges will be built at a cost of ₹28.02 crore near Panjarapol and ₹28.82 crore near Government Hospital Chowk. This project will be funded under Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana. In Gondal town, traffic congestion from nearby villages and tehsils has been a significant issue. The two over 100-year-old bridges over the Gondli river, dating back to the royal period, have been closed to heavy vehicles. Consequently, only one diversion route, National Highway 27 from Gondal to Sureshwar Chowk, remains available.
During heavy rains, the Weir Cum Causeway often becomes impassable, causing significant disruptions for vehicles. Responding to these issues, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has approved an in-principle allocation of ₹56.84 crore for the construction of two new bridges in Gondal. These new bridges will improve travel between Bhavnagar-Aatkot and Junagadh, as well as from Ghoghavdar Moviya to Junagadh and Kotada to Jetpur-Junagadh, by offering a four-lane route.
Additionally, Shri Bhupendra Patel has sanctioned ₹22.38 crore for the restoration of two over 100-year-old bridges over the Gondli River from the royal era. The allocation includes ₹17.90 crore for restoring the existing Bridge from Central Talkies to the Government Hospital and ₹4.47 crore for the Sardar Bridge near Panjara Pol. Both restored bridges will remain open to light motor vehicles. Motorists will be able to use the two newly constructed bridges for heavy vehicles, helping to bypass city traffic.
Aligning with the goal of ‘Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi’ set by the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister has approved the restoration of two over 100-year-old bridges and the construction of two new bridges in Gondal. This initiative aims to enhance the Ease of Living for residents in towns and cities while preserving heritage. Shri Bhupendra Patel has also directed the construction of these four-lane bridges to address Gondal’s growing population and the traffic needs of surrounding villages, tehsils, and districts.
