Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai attended the 4th ‘Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet and Expo’ (RE-INVEST)
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investors Summit and Expo (RE-INVEST-24) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai also participated in it. Chief Minister Shri Sai shared the work being done in the field of clean and green energy (BSMAND NDK HTMAD MADMATHAL) in Chhattisgarh from the stage.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that Chhattisgarh state will also make an important contribution in fulfilling Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ambitious target of producing 500 Gigawatt renewable energy by the year 2030. He said that Chhattisgarh is rapidly moving towards producing electricity from solar energy, hydel energy and biogas. The electricity consumption in the state is 5500 MW. About 15 percent of electricity in the state is being produced from renewable energy sources. Our target is to increase it to 45 percent in the coming time.
The Chief Minister said that renewable energy is being promoted by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This will not only promote renewable energy-related industries but will also help in tackling the big challenge of climate change. He said that there are immense possibilities of renewable energy production in Chhattisgarh. Solar energy and other non-conventional energy sources are being promoted in Chhattisgarh through Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency CREDA. In villages located in remote and forest areas of the state, where settlements are quite scattered, the distance between settlements is up to two to three km. There is a drain or a small hill in between. In such a situation, it is very difficult to lay electricity lines and the cost increases. In such areas, CREDA is working to provide electricity through solar energy.
The Chief Minister said that more than 2500 government buildings, ashram hostels and health centres in Chhattisgarh are lit by solar energy. For this, CREDA was appreciated internationally in the year 2018. He said that with the PM Suryaghar Yojana started by the Prime Minister, the common man of the country will now become a seller of electricity instead of a buyer. This scheme is also giving encouraging results in Chhattisgarh. By organizing ward-wise camps in urban areas, people are being made aware about this scheme and forms are being filled on the spot.
He said that a solar plant has been installed on railway land in Charoda between Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur and Bhilai. Local trains of Raipur and Durg are running from this solar plant. Similarly, there are natural hot water pools in Tatapani of Balrampur district. It has been decided to install a 100 kilowatt geothermal power plant here. Solar irrigation pumps are also being used for irrigation in farming. More than 1.5 lakh solar irrigation pumps have been installed in the farmers’ fields by CREDA. Similarly, 230 solar community irrigations are being operated through solar pumps in the state. About 25 thousand solar drinking water pumps have been installed in the state. Six and a half lakh families are getting pure drinking water from them.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that small mini hydroelectric power plants have also been established in Chhattisgarh, which are producing 75 MW of energy. 37 small hydroelectric power projects have been approved in the state. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Shri Modi has set the target of zero carbon emissions by the year 2070. Chhattisgarh will also play a major role in this direction.
The Chief Minister said that renewable energy is a pollution-free source of energy. New and renewable sources of energy will always exist. The whole world is moving towards them. In Chhattisgarh too, we are all determined to promote the maximum use of renewable energy. The fourth ‘Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet and Expo’ (RE-INVEST) was organized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.
On this occasion, Gujarat Governor Acharya Shri Devvrat, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Shri Prahlad Joshi, Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Goa, Chhattisgarh Energy Department Secretary Shri P. Dayanand and CREDA CEO Shri Rajesh Singh Rana were also present. The Chief Minister also visited the exhibition organized on this occasion.
There will be more than 40 sessions in this program. The theme of Re-Invest-24 is ‘Mission 500 Gigawatt’. For the first time, this program is being held outside the capital Delhi.
