Peace Day 2026 Message by Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma

Aizawl, June 2026 : On the occasion of the 40th Peace Day, I extend my warm greetings to all the people of Mizoram and to every member of the Zo community living across the world. I also pay my deepest respects to all those who sacrificed their lives for our land and our people.

For nearly 20 years, the period of insurgency prevented our state from progressing. It was only after peace and stability were restored in 1986 that Mizoram was able to embark on a steady path of development. This reminds us of the priceless value of peace and harmony. It also reinforces the importance of preserving peace and stability if we are to continue advancing as a state.

Since the restoration of peace, Mizoram has made remarkable progress. Today, we are proud to be a fully literate state in India. We are among the best-performing states in the North East in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are also counted among the country’s most peaceful states.

In recent years, increasing numbers of people have come to recognise the natural beauty of Mizoram and the warmth and hospitality of its people. As a result, tourist arrivals have grown significantly.

We have also continued to make steady progress in infrastructure development. The railway line has now reached Sairang, and efforts are underway to extend it to Thenzawl at the earliest. Construction of the Vairengte–Sairang Four-Lane National Highway is in progress, while work on several other National Highway projects is also underway across the state. In the near future, Mizoram will gain several major infrastructure assets that will further strengthen its development.

Recognising that all this progress has been made possible because of the peace and stability we enjoy, let us all work together to preserve Mizoram as a peaceful and harmonious state.

Thank you.
