BJP Launches ‘Singareni Bharosa Yatra’ in Telangana, Hails Centre’s Coal Block Allocation to SCCL

Hyderabad, July 2026 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday launched its two-day ‘Singareni Bharosa Yatra’ in Telangana to highlight the Central government’s decision to allocate the Tadicherla-2 coal block to the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), describing the move as a major boost for the state-owned mining company and its workforce.

The yatra was flagged off from the BJP state headquarters in Hyderabad by Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, and several senior party leaders. The delegation later reached Khammam district, where they received a warm welcome from party workers before beginning their outreach programme.

During the yatra, BJP leaders are scheduled to visit Singareni mining regions across four districts, interact with coal mine employees, and explain the initiatives taken by the Central government to strengthen SCCL and safeguard the interests of its workers.

Addressing the media before the launch, Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao alleged that both the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government and the current Congress administration had neglected Singareni, resulting in the public sector undertaking facing financial stress. He claimed that successive state governments had failed to implement policies necessary for the company’s long-term growth and sustainability.

Ramchander Rao asserted that the Narendra Modi-led Central government has consistently worked to protect and strengthen SCCL. According to him, the allocation of the Tadicherla-2 coal block is a significant step towards ensuring the company’s future expansion and improving its financial health. He said the decision has instilled renewed confidence among thousands of Singareni employees and their families.

Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy described the allocation of the Tadicherla Block-2 coal mine as a historic decision that would provide much-needed support to SCCL at a time when the company was facing financial challenges and witnessing negative growth.

The Union Minister stated that although a Supreme Court ruling requires coal blocks to be allocated through auctions, the Centre examined the legal provisions available under the Coal Mines Act and obtained detailed legal opinion before approving the allocation in favour of SCCL.

Kishan Reddy said the decision reflected the Centre’s commitment to protecting the interests of the public sector company rather than being guided by political considerations. He revealed that several trade unions representing Singareni workers had approached him seeking intervention, following which he personally discussed the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the minister, these efforts ultimately resulted in the allocation of the Tadicherla-2 coal block to SCCL.

The BJP maintains that the allocation will enhance coal production, strengthen the company’s financial position, secure employment opportunities, and contribute to Telangana’s industrial growth. Through the ‘Singareni Bharosa Yatra’, the party aims to directly engage with miners and highlight what it describes as the Centre’s continued commitment to the welfare and future of Singareni Collieries.
