Nagaur/Jaipur, July 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday dedicated 75 redeveloped Amrit Railway Stations across the country to the nation from Jalandhar, Punjab, under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Among the stations spread across 20 states, Rajasthan received eight redeveloped Amrit Stations at Gotan, Deeg, Somesar, Dausa, Khairthal, Barmer, Jaisalmer and Gangapur City.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma joined the Prime Minister’s programme virtually from Gotan Railway Station in Nagaur district and listened to his address. On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the Indian Railways has a pivotal role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India). He noted that since 2014, Indian Railways has undergone historic transformation, emerging as a strong pillar of India’s growth, development and self-reliance.

He said the inauguration of eight Amrit Stations in Rajasthan marks another significant milestone that will accelerate the state’s journey towards becoming a developed Rajasthan.

The Chief Minister stated that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Indian Railways continues to achieve new milestones through extensive modernisation of railway infrastructure, world-class stations and safer, more convenient passenger services. He added that railway connectivity is expanding rapidly while passengers are being provided with modern amenities across the network.

Vande Bharat, Namo Bharat and Amrit Bharat Trains Represent the New Face of Indian Railways

Sharma described Vande Bharat, Namo Bharat, and Amrit Bharat trains as the “trinity of modern railway transformation.” He said Vande Bharat trains have set new benchmarks in speed and comfort, while Namo Bharat rapid rail services are redefining urban mobility. Amrit Bharat trains are improving affordable travel for ordinary passengers, and Bharat Gaurav trains are helping connect people with India’s rich cultural heritage. He added that railway electrification is advancing India’s green transport goals, while new rail lines, modern stations and state-of-the-art terminals are strengthening the nation’s economic growth.

Railway Budget for Rajasthan Increases Fifteen-Fold

Highlighting the Centre’s investment in railway infrastructure, the Chief Minister said Rajasthan has received unprecedented support under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. He pointed out that the state’s annual railway budget, which stood at ₹682 crore between 2009 and 2014, has increased to a record ₹10,228 crore for 2026-27. Railway projects worth more than ₹76,800 crore are currently under execution across the state.

Five Vande Bharat Services and Development of 85 Railway Stations

The Chief Minister informed that Rajasthan currently operates five pairs of Vande Bharat Express trains, while nearly 3,900 kilometres of railway tracks have been constructed since 2014.

He added that 85 railway stations are being redeveloped at a cost of ₹4,623 crore, with work already completed at several locations. Last month, the Jaipur-Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express was launched, and the Mega Coaching Terminal at Khatipura, developed at a cost of ₹205 crore, was inaugurated. The facility will enable maintenance of Vande Bharat and other categories of trains at a single location.

Western Dedicated Freight Corridor to Boost Rajasthan’s Economy
