Minister Aditi Tatkare Visits Anganwadi Centres and Nutrition Rehabilitation Facilities in Melghat

Amravati, July 2026: Maharashtra Minister for Women and Child Development, Aditi Tatkare, visited Melghat to review child nutrition and welfare initiatives under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme. She was accompanied by ICDS Commissioner Dr. Madhavi Sardeshmukh, Deputy Commissioner Sangeeta Londhe, and former Zilla Parishad President Surekha Thakare.

During the visit, the Minister inspected Anganwadi centres at Bhokarbardi, Dhulghat Road, and Kalamkhar, where she reviewed the quality of infrastructure, nutrition services, and healthcare facilities available to children. She also interacted with children, parents, and Anganwadi workers to understand the implementation of welfare schemes at the grassroots level.

Tatkare met members of a local tribal women’s Self-Help Group (SHG) and appreciated their initiatives, reaffirming the Maharashtra government’s commitment to promoting women’s empowerment through livelihood and community development programmes.

The Minister also visited the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) at Dharani, where she reviewed treatment facilities, healthcare services, and the care being provided to malnourished children. She interacted with mothers of children undergoing treatment to understand the quality of medical care and nutritional support available at the centre.

A review meeting of the Women and Child Development Department’s activities in Melghat was subsequently held at the Dharani Tehsil Office. During the meeting, several key decisions were taken to strengthen child and maternal welfare in the region.

The discussions focused on implementing special measures to prevent child marriages, prioritising nutrition during the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, providing solar power, sanitation facilities, and safe drinking water in Anganwadi centres, ensuring quality nutrition for pregnant women, and accelerating the construction of new Anganwadi buildings.

Officials also decided to enhance awareness of government welfare schemes for women and children by disseminating information through Gram Sabhas, ensuring that the benefits of these programmes reach people at the grassroots level more effectively.

The visit reflects the state government’s continued focus on improving child nutrition, maternal healthcare, women’s empowerment, and the overall strengthening of welfare infrastructure in tribal and remote regions such as Melghat.
