Draft Electoral Roll to be Published on August 17 Under Special Intensive Revision Programme

Citizens Urged to Submit Enumeration Forms to BLOs by August 8

Mumbai, July 2026 : The Election Commission has begun implementing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across Maharashtra. The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has appealed to all existing voters to fill, sign, and submit their Enumeration Forms to their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during home visits or by August 8, 2026. Voters who submit their forms within the stipulated deadline will have their names included in the draft electoral roll, which will be published on August 17, 2026.

Eligible citizens whose names do not appear in the draft roll, as well as first-time voters, will have an opportunity to apply for inclusion in the electoral roll between August 17 and September 16, 2026. They can submit Form 6, along with the required declaration and supporting documents. The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will verify the applications and include eligible applicants in the final electoral roll.

During the claims and objections period, citizens may:

• Submit Form 6 for inclusion of their names in the electoral roll.
• Submit Form 8 for corrections or modifications to existing entries.
• Submit Form 7 to raise objections or request deletion of an ineligible name from the electoral roll.

The Chief Electoral Officer’s office has cautioned that furnishing false declarations or incorrect information while applying for inclusion, correction, or deletion of names is a punishable offence under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. Offenders may face imprisonment for up to one year, a fine, or both.

The final electoral roll for Maharashtra will be published on October 19, 2026.

The Election Commission also clarified that even after the publication of the final electoral roll, eligible citizens can continue to apply for inclusion of their names or seek corrections under Sections 22 and 23 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, by submitting the prescribed Form 6.

The Chief Electoral Officer’s office emphasised that updating electoral rolls is a continuous process, and eligible citizens may submit applications for additions or corrections up to the last date for filing nominations for any election. Citizens have been urged to actively participate in the revision process to ensure that the electoral rolls remain accurate and up to date.
