Jaipur, July 2026: Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have emerged as a transformative force in delivering quality healthcare to villages and remote hamlets across Rajasthan. While residents earlier had to travel several kilometres even for basic medical treatment, they can now access comprehensive healthcare services close to their homes. From maternal and child healthcare to screening for non-communicable diseases, mental healthcare, elderly care, telemedicine, essential diagnostic tests, and medicines, a wide range of healthcare services is now available within local communities.

In line with the National Health Policy 2017, launched under the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Rajasthan government, led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, has significantly strengthened primary healthcare services across the state. Rajasthan had set a target of transforming 18,436 health institutions into Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Of these, nearly 11,500 centres have already become fully operational, while the remaining institutions are being activated in phases.

At present, the state has converted 8,370 Sub-Health Centres, 2,107 Primary Health Centres, 286 Urban Primary Health Centres, and 728 Urban Janata Clinics into Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, providing regular healthcare services to millions of residents.

Each Ayushman Arogya Mandir is staffed by trained Community Health Officers (CHOs), Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), staff nurses, and ASHA workers, who provide quality healthcare services throughout the week. Rural and remote communities have benefited the most, as they no longer need to visit district hospitals for minor ailments.

The centres offer 12 categories of Comprehensive Primary Healthcare services, including maternal and reproductive healthcare, newborn and child health services, adolescent healthcare, family planning, treatment of communicable diseases, general outpatient services, screening and management of diabetes and hypertension, eye, ear, nose and throat care, oral healthcare, geriatric and palliative care, emergency first aid, and mental health screening and treatment.

Specialist Doctors Now Accessible Through Telemedicine

Telemedicine services have received a major boost through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. The eSanjeevani Telemedicine Service has become a lifeline for rural healthcare by digitally connecting these centres with Community Health Centres, District Hospitals, and Medical Colleges.

Patients can now consult specialist doctors online while remaining at their local health centres, significantly reducing travel time, costs, and inconvenience. So far, more than 3.1 million people across Rajasthan have benefited from telemedicine consultations.

Promoting Preventive Healthcare and Healthy Living

Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are not limited to providing treatment but are also promoting healthier lifestyles through a holistic approach. More than 4.449 million wellness sessions have been organised across the state, benefiting over 40 million citizens.

These wellness sessions, health fairs, and special health awareness programmes educate people about yoga, nutrition, prevention of non-communicable diseases, mental well-being, and healthy lifestyle practices.

Free Medicines and Diagnostic Services Near Home

The centres ensure the availability of 121 essential medicines, with supplies managed through the Chief Minister’s Free Medicine Scheme using the e-Aushadhi software.

Additionally, residents have access to 14 essential diagnostic tests, including haemoglobin testing, pregnancy tests, blood sugar screening, malaria, dengue, HIV, Hepatitis-B, syphilis, urine tests, water and salt quality testing, cervical cancer screening, and several other important diagnostic services.

Setting New Standards in Public Healthcare

Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have transformed Rajasthan’s primary healthcare system from a hospital-centric model to a community-based healthcare network. Residents no longer have to travel long distances for basic medical services, specialist consultations are available locally through digital platforms, essential medicines and diagnostic tests are provided free of cost, and diseases can be detected and treated at an early stage.

The rapid expansion of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs reflects Rajasthan’s commitment to making quality, affordable, and comprehensive healthcare accessible to every citizen. The initiative is establishing new benchmarks in public healthcare by bringing essential medical services closer to people’s homes and strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
