New Delhi, July 2026 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has lodged a written complaint at Parliament Street Police Station against Satyam Pandit, who allegedly assaulted two minor children while they were returning home after participating in the Cockroach Janata Party’s protest at Jantar Mantar.

On Tuesday, AAP Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj, along with MLA Kuldeep Kumar, submitted the complaint to New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma and demanded the immediate arrest of Satyam Pandit. Bharadwaj said that until now, the police had been citing the absence of a formal complaint as a reason for not taking action, but they no longer had any excuse.

He alleged that Satyam Pandit abused the two children, assaulted them, and attempted to spread hatred and provoke violence in the name of religion. The DCP assured that appropriate legal action would be taken. Bharadwaj warned that if no action was initiated, the party would approach the court.

Bharadwaj said that a two-three-day-old video circulating on social media showed a person named Satyam Pandit travelling in a vehicle with five other individuals. He alleged that Pandit stopped two minor boys from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, who were returning from the Jantar Mantar protest. One of the boys is reportedly 16 years old.

According to Bharadwaj, Satyam Pandit used abusive language against the children, physically assaulted them and tried to spread hatred in the name of religion. He added that the victims had also claimed that the accused persons may have been carrying weapons.

Expressing concern over the delay in police action, Bharadwaj said it was unfortunate that despite the video circulating on social media for several days, the Delhi Police had been stating that they had not received any complaint. He argued that in such cases, the police could take suo motu action or courts could direct registration of an FIR based on available evidence.

“Today, we met New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma and submitted a formal complaint, mentioning the names of both the victims and the accused. The DCP has assured legal action, and we hope the police will arrest the accused today itself. If no action is taken, we will approach the court,” Bharadwaj said.

Reacting to observations made by the Supreme Court, Bharadwaj said that if institutions such as the police and judiciary continue to protect citizens’ rights, people would not be forced to take to the streets for justice. However, if these institutions remain silent, young people would have no option but to protest.

On the alleged use of pellet guns during the July 20 protest, Bharadwaj demanded a thorough investigation into two issues. First, he sought action against the officer who allegedly ordered the use of pellet guns. Second, he questioned why reports about the incident were allegedly suppressed for eight days.

He said the person injured by pellet gun firing had been admitted to AIIMS on the first day itself, and the matter was already part of official records. Therefore, he demanded an inquiry into why the information was allegedly withheld for several days.

Meanwhile, AAP Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar said that the party had come to register a complaint against Satyam Pandit, whom he accused of being associated with the ideology of the BJP and RSS.

Kumar alleged that Pandit assaulted and harassed two minor children and demanded immediate action against him. He said the police had repeatedly claimed that they had not received any complaint, but after the written complaint submitted by Saurabh Bharadwaj, there was no reason for further delay.

Kumar accused BJP and RSS supporters of attempting to divide people in the country on religious lines and demanded strict action against those responsible for spreading hatred and violence.
