Police Must Work with Mantra of Service, Sensitivity and Good Governance: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the police must work with dedication, guided by the principles of service, sensitivity and good governance, describing these values as the true essence of public service. He expressed the hope that whenever people-friendly policing is discussed in the country, the police force of Jabalpur—known as the state’s Sanskardhani (Cultural Capital)—should be recognised as a leading example. The Chief Minister said, addressing a programme in Tilwara, Jabalpur, on Saturday that the effective use of technology has significantly strengthened policing in Madhya Pradesh. He informed that the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS), with a database of over 16 lakh fingerprints, has helped solve more than 1,200 complex cases. The Chief Minister added that Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in the country to establish the identity of unidentified deceased persons through NAFIS.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav further said that more than 36 lakh summons and warrants have been served through the e-Summons System, which was first implemented in Madhya Pradesh. He also noted that over 2.30 lakh digital evidence records have been uploaded to the e-Sakshya Portal. Madhya Pradesh is also among the leading states in the country in the prompt registration of e-Zero FIRs based on complaints received through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) and the 1930 cyber helpline.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav inaugurated 96 newly constructed police constable quarters built at a cost of ₹22.57 crore, a new Divisional Police Office constructed at a cost of approximately ₹3.21 crore, and the new Tilwara Police Station building developed at a cost of nearly ₹2.80 crore. He said that the Safe Click 2.0 campaign has emerged as the country’s largest cyber security awareness initiative. More than 8,000 programmes have been organised across the state, reaching over one crore citizens directly, while digital platforms have carried cyber safety messages to more than six crore people.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced that a new police station would be established at Maharajpur in Jabalpur. He announced, noting that Jabalpur houses the High Court of Madhya Pradesh and witnesses the regular movement of police personnel from across the state, that facilities in police barracks would be upgraded. Eligible police personnel staying in these barracks would also receive financial assistance towards mess expenses in accordance with government rules. The Chief Minister, referring to the ongoing holy month of Shravan, directed that the police administration to ensure that Kanwar pilgrims face no inconvenience during their journeys. He said that as criminals increasingly exploit technology, the police must also adopt advanced technological tools to combat crime effectively. He informed that 1,117 police stations and 693 senior police offices across the state have been digitally interconnected. To facilitate faster and more accurate investigations, 25,000 tablets have been provided to police personnel. The Chief Minister also said that the Dial-112 Emergency Response Service has been further strengthened with the deployment of 1,200 new modern vehicles, procured at a cost of approximately ₹972 crore, across all districts.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that while the Government continues to take strict action against criminals, the police force has also demonstrated remarkable compassion. He highlighted that Operation Muskaan has reunited missing children with their families, while the Srijan Programme has strengthened the safety and security of women and children. The Chief Minister also referred to the “Nasha Se Doori Hai Zaroori 2.0” campaign, under which intensive enforcement drives are being conducted against the illegal drug trade across the state. He said the campaign has received international recognition from the World Book of Records, London.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is modernising its legal and policing framework to meet future challenges. He noted that several colonial-era laws have been replaced, including the introduction of the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The Chief Minister said that the State Government is committed to the welfare of police personnel. The Government has also resolved long-pending promotion-related issues, enabling the promotion of more than 25,000 police officers and personnel.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced that the Government would soon formulate a scheme to provide financial assistance to police personnel to purchase homes, ensuring that they have a house of their own after retirement. He also announced that fresh recruitment would be undertaken for Police Bands, which would be re-established in every district to enhance ceremonial events such as Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said Madhya Pradesh has emerged as a leading state in eliminating the threat of Left-Wing Extremism under the resolve of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah. He praised the courage of police personnel in overcoming a challenge that had affected districts such as Balaghat, Mandla and Dindori for decades.

Public Works Minister Shri Rakesh Singh said that good governance depends on an effective law and order system, making the role of the police indispensable. He said the Madhya Pradesh Police, under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, is effectively using advanced technology to combat crime while remaining an integral part of society.

The programme was attended by Rajya Sabha Member Smt. Sumitra Valmiki, Jabalpur MP Shri Ashish Dubey, MLAs, Mayor Shri Jagat Bahadur Singh “Annu”, Municipal Corporation Speaker Shri Rinku Vij, several public representatives and senior police officers.
