Shri 84 Mahadev Shrines Embody Faith, Devotion and Cultural Heritage: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Ujjain is not merely a city but the sacred abode of Lord Shri Mahakal. The 84 Mahadev shrines are living symbols of faith, spiritual discipline and the eternal Sanatan tradition. He said the Shri 84 Mahadev Darshan Yatra-2026 would serve as a medium to take the State’s rich cultural heritage to the people and offer devotees an opportunity for both spiritual devotion and inner awakening. The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the pilgrims embarking on the yatra, addressing the inaugural programme of the pilgrimage through video conferencing on Sunday,

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Indian culture conveys the timeless ideals of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah’. He described Lord Shiva as the embodiment of harmony, compassion and public welfare, adding that India’s spiritual heritage continues to inspire people across the world. The pilgrimage, he said, is an initiative to further strengthen the country’s spiritual consciousness. The Chief Minister said that the parikrama of the 84 Mahadev shrines is an ancient and sacred tradition of Shiva worship, symbolising faith, self-discipline and spiritual devotion. He added, every temple, stands as a witness to Ujjain’s glorious history and cultural legacy. The initiative will also help connect the younger generation with the State’s cultural roots.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav noted that such large-scale spiritual events are rare. As part of the pilgrimage, all women devotees are being presented with a red chunari, a sari, a Rudraksha mala and a Bilva sapling free of cost by the organising committee. The yatra is also accompanied by a devotional music troupe led by renowned bhajan singer Shri Manish Tiwari. The Chief Minister highlighting the significance of the holy month of Shravan, appreciated the deep devotion of devotees towards Lord Shiva. He said that the pilgrimage would promote the State’s cultural heritage, strengthen religious tourism and foster greater social harmony. The Chief Minister added, religious pilgrimages are not only expressions of faith but also important drivers of the local economy, benefiting hotels, transport services, handicrafts and small businesses. The State Government is continuously upgrading facilities at pilgrimage centres with the objective of developing Ujjain into a world-class spiritual tourism destination.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that ensuring a safe, seamless and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage experience for devotees visiting Ujjain remains the State Government’s priority. He expressed confidence that the administration and society would work together to make the event a grand success, adding that public participation is the key to making such occasions truly magnificent and divine.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav further said that a society rooted in its culture builds a strong and confident nation. He urged the youth to stay connected with India’s traditions, pilgrimage centres and cultural values, noting that the nation’s identity is shaped by its civilisation and heritage. The Chief Minister said that the pilgrimage would inspire young people with the values of service, discipline and patriotism.

The inaugural programme in Ujjain was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Balyogi Umeshnath Maharaj, Ujjain MP Shri Anil Firojiya, MLA Shri Anil Jain Kalukheda, Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board Shri Om Jain, renowned international spiritual orator Pt. Pradeep Mishra, spiritual leader Shri Shaileshanand Maharaj, Chairman of the Ujjain Development Authority Shri Ravi Solanki, Shri Sanjay Agrawal, office-bearers of the organising committee including Shri Narayan Yadav, Shri Mahesh Paryani, Shri Lalita Lulla and Shri Sheshant Chanderia, along with a large number of devotees.
