Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma Announces ₹421 Crore Development Projects for Udaipur

Jaipur, August 2026: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Sunday said the state government has prepared a comprehensive roadmap for Rajasthan’s development, with a focus on water, electricity, industry, employment and roads. During his visit to Udaipur, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 457 development projects worth ₹421 crore.

Addressing a programme at the Municipal Corporation auditorium in Udaipur, Sharma said work on the ambitious Ramjal Setu Link Project is progressing rapidly and would help ensure adequate water supply for residents, farmers and industries. He also highlighted the Yamuna Water Agreement for the Shekhawati region and said work on the Dewas Project was being accelerated to meet the water requirements of Udaipur and surrounding areas.

On the power front, Sharma said memoranda of understanding worth ₹2.24 lakh crore had been signed with public sector undertakings to make Rajasthan self-reliant in electricity. He said the government aims to provide daytime power to farmers in every district by 2027, with daytime electricity supply already available in 26 districts. New grid substations of different capacities are also being established, while farmers are becoming both food producers and energy producers through the PM-KUSUM scheme.

The Chief Minister said the government was promoting investment and industrial development through the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit. Of the MoUs worth ₹35 lakh crore signed during the summit, projects involving nearly ₹9 lakh crore have already moved towards implementation, he said.

Highlighting employment initiatives, Sharma said the government had promised four lakh government jobs for young people. So far, appointments have been made against more than 1.78 lakh posts, while recruitment for over 1.32 lakh posts is underway and preparations are being made for recruitment to more than 70,000 additional positions. This has opened the way for recruitment to around 3.80 lakh posts, he said, adding that recruitment examinations have been conducted transparently. Another 4.5 lakh employment opportunities have been created in the private sector.

Describing Udaipur as a city of lakes as well as a land of “Shakti and Bhakti”, Sharma said the government was working to strengthen tourism in Udaipur, Rajsamand and Chittorgarh.

Among the projects inaugurated were 21 major works worth more than ₹47 crore. These included a modern cath lab at R.N.T. Medical College, a 75-bed rehabilitation home for senior citizens, a government girls’ college building at Phalasia, an SC girls’ hostel at Kanod, an RCC drain at Savina and a primary health centre at Daroli in Vallabhnagar.

The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stones for 436 projects worth more than ₹373 crore aimed at strengthening Udaipur’s infrastructure. These include a maternal and child wing at Maharana Bhupal Hospital, a modern sewage system in the Bhuvana area, a district hospital building at Bhinder and a community health centre building at Fatehnagar.

Sharma further highlighted road infrastructure development, saying the state has developed a 49,197-km road network at a cost of ₹34,128 crore. Work is progressing on nine greenfield expressways covering 2,750 km, while 18,067 km of new roads have been constructed and 1,758 villages have been connected with asphalt roads for the first time.

He said the government was also focusing on agriculture, dairy, cooperatives and rural development. Under the Chief Minister’s Developed Village-Urban Ward Campaign, development roadmaps are being prepared for villages and urban wards, while food-processing units are being promoted to generate local employment.

Tribal Area Development Minister Babulal Kharadi and Revenue Minister Hemant Meena also highlighted the government’s development initiatives and water projects.

MPs Mannalal Rawat and Chunnilal Garasia, MLAs Phoolsingh Meena, Pratap Lal Bhil, Uday Lal Dangi and Tarachand Jain, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, former minister Rajendra Rathore, local representatives and a large number of residents attended the programme.
