Rajasthan Tribal Advisory Council Meeting Held; CM Bhajan Lal Sharma Calls for Holistic Development of ST Communities

Udaipur/Jaipur, August 2026: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said the state government is working towards the economic empowerment, social security and overall development of Scheduled Tribe communities in Rajasthan based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “GYAN model” — Garib, Yuva, Annadata and Nari (poor, youth, farmers and women).

He directed concerned departments to ensure effective implementation of budget announcements and schemes covering education, healthcare and nutrition, livelihoods, agriculture and horticulture, animal husbandry, self-employment and skill development, and tourism in tribal-dominated areas.

Sharma was chairing a meeting of the Rajasthan Scheduled Tribe Advisory Council at the Agriculture College in Udaipur on Sunday. He reviewed the progress of the PM-JANMAN scheme and directed officials to complete ongoing works at the earliest. He also instructed officials to ensure that tribal families receive the full benefits of schemes through various activities being conducted under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan.

The Chief Minister said the state government was providing adequate budgetary support for the welfare of tribal communities and instructed departments to implement development works and welfare initiatives rapidly while maintaining quality standards.

He also directed officials to ensure efficient functioning of ashram hostels, residential schools, sports and co-curricular activities. He called for the implementation of the budget announcement to establish the country’s first lacrosse academy in Udaipur.

Focus on Education and Youth

Sharma directed officials to ensure that children receive quality education, healthcare and sports facilities through Maa-Badi centres, along with continuous monitoring of their functioning.

He called for effective measures to increase school enrolment and prevent dropouts in tribal areas. Departments were also instructed to ensure that more students benefit from the Scheduled Tribe Post-Matric Scholarship, Higher Education Department scholarship schemes and the Kalibai Bheel Meritorious Scooty Scheme.

Under the Chief Minister Anuprati Coaching Scheme, needy youth should receive adequate opportunities to prepare for competitive recruitment examinations, he said.

He also called for efforts to bring disadvantaged women and girls into education through the Kalibai Bheel Mahila Sambal Shiksha Setu Yojana and expand the reach of the Lado Protsahan Yojana.

Strengthening Healthcare and Nutrition

The Chief Minister directed officials to strengthen healthcare services in tribal areas, particularly through improved mobile medical units and telemedicine services in remote locations.

He called for effective measures to prevent and control sickle-cell disease and anaemia. He also directed officials to accelerate nutrition initiatives through the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), prepare a special action plan against malnutrition and provide children with nutritious food based on millets.

Udaipur Farmer Named ‘Kisan Brand Ambassador’

Sharma appointed progressive farmer Premchand Kapaya, from Jalamपुर village under Phalasia Panchayat Samiti in Udaipur, as a ‘Kisan Brand Ambassador’ in recognition of his contribution to organic, traditional and natural farming.

He has also been appointed as a trainer at the Organic Agriculture Research and Training Centre in Kota. Premchand had earlier told the Chief Minister during a Gram Vikas Chaupal in Beeda village of Jhadol that he had successfully adopted organic farming, vermicomposting, horticulture, animal husbandry and modern agricultural techniques despite limited resources.

He will now train farmers across Rajasthan in organic and natural farming practices.

Boost to Tribal Livelihoods and Women Entrepreneurs

Sharma said the double-engine government was implementing various schemes to strengthen livelihoods in tribal areas. Farmers should receive maximum benefits from agriculture and horticulture schemes, while livestock owners should be connected with welfare programmes.

He also directed officials to connect youth with self-employment schemes and provide skill-development training.

The Chief Minister called for training tribal women associated with Rajeevika to improve their skills, product quality and incomes. Women should also be encouraged to manufacture Ayurvedic products using natural produce.

He directed departments to form a committee to facilitate the purchase of Rajeevika products by government institutions. Special efforts should also be made to promote tribal women’s products at fairs organised at Jawahar Kala Kendra and Bikaner House.

Sharma further called for training needy people through Van Dhan Vikas Kendras to improve their livelihoods.

Focus on Eco and Tribal Tourism

The Chief Minister said tribal areas have immense potential for eco-tourism and tribal tourism. He called for a roadmap to promote and preserve tribal art and culture and develop tribal faith centres.

He directed that meetings of the Rajasthan Scheduled Tribe Advisory Council be held every two months at the Chief Secretary level to ensure continuous monitoring of development works.

He also asked the Tribal Area Development Minister and legislators to review works in their respective areas and instructed officials to incorporate suggestions from local public representatives for better implementation of schemes.

Tribal Area Development Minister Babulal Kharadi, Revenue Minister Hemant Meena, legislators, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas and senior officials from concerned departments attended the meeting.
