‘Drug-Free Youth for Viksit Bharat’ Pledge Echoes at Central University of Rajasthan

Jaipur, August 2026: A large-scale programme under the ‘Drug-Free Youth for Viksit Bharat’ campaign was organised in Ajmer on Sunday through a joint initiative of MY Bharat Ajmer and the Central University of Rajasthan, Kishangarh, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

More than 400 young participants enthusiastically took a pledge to contribute towards building a drug-free India and watched a live broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address. The event aimed to create greater awareness among young people about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage them to become active participants in the campaign for a healthier and stronger India.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Bhagirath Choudhary attended the programme as the chief guest, while Central University of Rajasthan Vice-Chancellor Prof. Anand Bhalerao presided over the event. MY Bharat Ajmer District Youth Officer Jayesh Meena and National Service Scheme (NSS) Programme Officer Devendra Rankawat played an important role in organising the programme.

During the event, Minister Bhagirath Choudhary administered the pledge to the participating youth, urging them to remain away from drugs and spread awareness about the dangers of substance abuse within their communities.

District Youth Officer Jayesh Meena said that MY Bharat volunteers in Ajmer district are conducting awareness campaigns across villages and educational institutions. In addition, activities are being organised through the MY Bharat portal, including online drug-free pledges and registration drives, while efforts are being made to ensure active participation of students in schools and colleges.

The participants also watched the live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address. In his message, the Prime Minister emphasised that drug abuse does not affect only an individual but weakens the energy and potential of families, society and the nation as a whole.

He called upon young people to stay away from drugs and encourage their friends and family members to do the same. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of transforming public participation into a mass movement against substance abuse.

He said that a drug-free youth population would be one of India’s greatest strengths in its journey towards becoming a self-reliant, empowered and developed nation.

Addressing the gathering, Bhagirath Choudhary said India’s greatest strength lies in its young population. He said that if young people stay away from social evils such as drug abuse and channel their energy towards education, skills, innovation and nation-building, the vision of a developed India can certainly be achieved.

He urged the youth to become messengers of the drug-free India campaign and spread awareness about the issue in their communities.

Presiding over the programme, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Anand Bhalerao said universities are not merely centres of education but also important centres of social awareness. He noted that the active participation of students in campaigns such as the fight against drug abuse can help bring about wider social change.

The programme also received support from Mayank Singh Negi, founder of Maharana Pratap Yuva Mandal. Yuva Mandal president Meenakshi Sharma, members of the university community, MY Bharat volunteers, NSS volunteers and NCC volunteers contributed to the successful conduct of the event.

The programme concluded with a collective pledge to build a developed, healthy and drug-free India. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to staying away from drugs and spreading awareness about the importance of a drug-free society.
