Vijender Singh Questions Rahul Gandhi Over Silence on India’s Commonwealth Games Success

New Delhi, Aug 2026 : Olympic medallist boxer Vijender Singh has questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over what he described as the absence of a public message congratulating Indian athletes for their strong performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, urging political leaders to keep sporting achievements above political differences.

In a post on X, Vijender said that while Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party frequently speak about the country’s youth, there had so far been no congratulatory message from the Congress leader acknowledging the performances of Indian athletes at the Games.

“When India’s youth are raising the Tricolour high, it is also our collective responsibility to rise above politics and boost their morale,” Vijender said, calling for greater recognition and encouragement of athletes representing the country on the international stage.

The former boxer’s remarks came as India celebrated an impressive campaign at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Vijender has been actively congratulating the Indian contingent, particularly the boxing team, which produced one of the country’s strongest performances at the Games.

Earlier, he praised the Indian boxing contingent for its historic medal haul. In another post, Vijender highlighted the team’s achievement of winning 10 medals, including seven gold and three silver.

He congratulated the boxers for their hard work and dedication, saying their performance and commitment to the Tricolour had made the entire country proud.
