CM Tamil Nadu, M. K. Stalin: Doubling Educational Assistance for Differently-Abled Students
In an effort to support differently-abled students in schools and colleges, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M. K. Stalin, has announced the doubling of educational assistance, allocating Rs. 14,90,52,000 for this initiative. The assistance is aimed at encouraging differently-abled students to pursue their studies without financial constraints and to promote their overall welfare.
Key aspects of the initiative include:
- For differently-abled students in classes 1 to 5, the annual educational assistance has been doubled from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,000.
- For students in classes 6 to 8, the assistance has been raised from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 6,000 annually.
- For students in classes 9 to 12, the amount has been increased from Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 8,000 per year.
- For differently-abled students pursuing undergraduate degree courses in colleges, the assistance has been doubled from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 12,000 annually.
- For students in postgraduate and higher education courses, the amount has been increased from Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 14,000 annually.
Additionally, the Chief Minister has allocated Rs. 50 lakh to support differently-abled individuals engaged in research. Each beneficiary will receive Rs. 1 lakh to encourage their academic and research pursuits. This allocation aims to benefit 50 differently-abled individuals pursuing research.
The initiative reflects the Tamil Nadu government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for differently-abled citizens. The free travel scheme for differently-abled persons on private buses has also seen an increase in assistance from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,500.
By increasing educational assistance and research support, the government hopes to foster enthusiasm, creativity, and knowledge among differently-abled students, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives filled with purpose and achievement.
