“2022 JV TNIHPL to Offer Affordable Housing for Tamil Nadu Industrial Workers”

In the presence of Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Investment Promotions & Commerce Department Dr. T.R.B. Rajaa, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchanged between Tamil Nadu Industrial Housing Pvt. Ltd.(TNIHPL) and Tata Power Solar Ltd (TPSL) for the allocation of 500 beds in Gangaikondan Industrial Housing Facility at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Gangaikondan,Tirunelveli Taluk, Tirunelveli District,” TNIHPL, an SPV formed jointly with SIPCOT, TNIFMC, and TIDEL in the year 2022 to provide safe, secure, and affordable housing facilities for industrial workers at SIPCOT Industrial Parks and other places in Tamil Nadu.

Currently, TNIHPL is developing five Industrial housing facilities within SIPCOT Industrial Parks viz., Siruseri (807 beds), Gangaikondan (870 beds), Shoolagiri (1495 beds), Irungattukottai (801 beds) and Cheyyar (441 beds) with a total capacity of 4,414 beds at a project cost of Rs.204.54 Cr. During the Budget speech (2023-2024), the Government announced that, “Industrial Housing Facility will be established in SIPCOT Industrial Park, Gangaikondan at an estimated cost of Rs.50 Crores to accommodate 1500 employees. The facility is implemented through Tamil Nadu Industrial Housing Private Limited (TNIHPL).

The Industrial Housing facility at Gangaikondan SIPCOT Industrial Park, Tirunelveli Taluk, Tirunelveli District, is established with a total estimated project cost of about Rs.40 crore to cater to the needs of industrial working women in the park. This facility is constructed with a built-up area of 120,398 sq. ft., with 145 rooms (870 beds) on 6 acres of land, furnished with cot & mattress, working table/ chair, wardrobe etc. The facility is also provided with Kitchen & Dining facilities, outdoor play area, workers room, Recreation Halls on each floor, laundry rooms, drying area, medical room, etc. M/s. TPSL has established a Solar PV cell and module manufacturing facility on 313.53 acres of land at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Gangaikondan, with an investment of Rs. 4,300 crore and the creation of 3,000 jobs.

The company commenced operations, and about 80% of the employees are women. M/s.TPSL agrees to provide the firm commitment of lease for 500 beds from the date of occupation of this facility to accommodate its women employees. In the presence of Thiru.T. R. B. Rajaa, Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Investment Promotions & Commerce Department, MoU has been exchanged between TNIHPL &TPSL for occupation of 500 beds in the Gangaikondan Industrial Housing Facility at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Gangaikondan. Executive Director of SIPCOT & Managing Director of TNIHPL Tmt. D. Sneha, IAS., Chief Human Resources Officer, Tata Power Renewables Ms. Anupama Ratta and TPSL’s Chief Executive Officer Thiru. Balaji Parthasarthy were present at the event.
