When the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission Visits the Girls’ Hostel of the Social Justice Department
Jalgaon : “School life is like a sapling, and it’s up to you to transform it into a tree through study and hard work. No matter the distractions or temptations, stay focused on your goal.” This was the message shared by State Women’s Commission Chairperson, Rupali Chakankar, during her visit to the girls’ hostel of the Social Justice Department. As she recalled memories from her school days, both she and the girls listening were completely captivated.
Her visit to the backward class girls’ hostel was unplanned, taking place during her two-day trip to Jalgaon district on September 18 and 19. After completing her scheduled meetings, she arrived at the hostel on the evening of September 18.
Interaction with the Girls
During her visit, Mrs. Chakankar engaged in a heartfelt conversation with the girls. Initially hesitant, the girls soon opened up and participated actively in the discussion. They raised various questions, which Mrs. Chakankar addressed, offering them advice on how to succeed in life without falling prey to cybercrime, a growing concern she discussed in detail. She encouraged the girls to make their parents proud by staying vigilant and focused.
She also provided information about women’s safety laws, the role of the Women’s Commission, and government schemes aimed at women’s empowerment. During the visit, she toured the hostel’s kitchen, where daily meals are prepared for the girls, and even tasted the food. She inspected the hostel’s facilities to ensure their adequacy.
Assistant Commissioner of the Social Justice Department, Yogesh Patil, was present and shared insights into the department’s initiatives for women and girls in the district. Women and Child Welfare Officer Vinita Songat and Superintendent Vaishali Patil were also in attendance.
