Tamil Nadu Women Mamambatu Nirunem: Women’s Self-Help Groups

Women’s self-help groups are preparing products for the Nerathiri Sales Fair during the Dhukka Festival. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has implemented a plan to empower women through self-help groups. As a result of these schemes, these groups engage in social activities and selfless service.

The products made by the self-help groups are in demand, and the Tamil Nadu Women’s Empowerment Centre is organizing a sales fair for these items at the state and district levels. This initiative includes the Nerathiri Munnittu, Sennana, and Nungambakkam Annana Sataro women’s self-help groups, which will showcase fruits and vegetables.

On September 21, 2024, the Additional Financial Secretary, Mr. Gagandeep Singh Mabadi, inaugurated the sales fair at Tuekki Nethu, highlighting the products on display. The event also featured the Director of Tamil Nadu Women’s Mamambatu Nirunem, Mrs. E. Divyadarsini, and Executive Director Mrs. Smraya B. Singh, along with other directors and participants from various women’s groups.

The exhibition, running from September 21 to October 6, 2024, will feature products from the Tamil Nadu State Village Ojothara Movement and the Tamil Nadu Urban Ojothara Movement, showcasing materials produced by self-help groups in agriculture, textiles, and crafts, including silk and cotton fabrics, artificial accessories, and handmade goods.

The exhibition includes 48 booths displaying traditional crafts, wooden sculptures, and various handmade items. Separate halls will be available for traditional performances, making it a vibrant cultural event. The exhibition will be open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, offering a platform for women’s self-help groups to showcase their quality products.

This special sales exhibition aims to support and promote the significant contributions of women’s self-help groups in Tamil Nadu.
