Commonwealth Parliamentary Annual Conference to Feature Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman in Mizoram

Aizawl : Lok Sabha Speaker Pu Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Pu Harivansh Narayan Singh, along with various officials, will be attending the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Annual Conference for the India Region, Zone-III, which is scheduled to take place in Aizawl on September 27 and 28, 2024.

The Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman will be welcomed by Mizoram Speaker Pu Lalbiakzama, Lok Sabha MP Pu Richard Vanlalhmangaiha, Deputy Speaker Pu Lalfamkima, and other officials.

The proceedings will commence with an Executive Committee Meeting in the Mizoram Legislative Assembly Committee Room at 7:00 PM tonight. On September 27 (Saturday), Lok Sabha Speaker Pu Om Birla will inaugurate a new Archive Cell in the MLA Library at 11:00 AM, followed by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Annual Conference at 11:30 AM. In his keynote address, Nagaland Speaker and CPA Zone-III Chairman Pu Sharingain Longkumer will speak about various issues, while Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Pu Harivansh Narayan Singh, and Lok Sabha Speaker Pu Om Birla will also share their insights. One of the key topics of discussion will be the “Inclusion of the Northeast Region in the India-ASEAN Vision for Trade and Cooperation.”

In the following discussions during the CPA Annual Conference, the topic of “Merging the Ministry of DONER with NEC for better strategic planning and coordination of various projects in the region” will also be addressed. Following these discussions, Speaker Pu Lalbiakzama and Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma will share their thoughts, which will be followed by a speech from Mizoram Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pu Vanlalhlana, marking the conclusion of the conference.
