Per capita electricity consumption of Madhya Pradesh increased to 1332 kilowatt per hour: Energy Minister Tomar
Per capita electricity consumption has increased due to effective implementation of electricity scheme in Madhya Pradesh and rapid development in power infrastructure. Energy Minister Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar has informed that per capita electricity consumption (excluding roof top solar consumption) in the state has increased to 1332 (kWh) kilowatt per hour in this financial year. In the last three years, per capita electricity consumption in the state has increased by 11.65 percent. In the year 2021-22, per capita electricity consumption in Madhya Pradesh was 1193 kilowatt per hour, which has increased to 1332 kilowatt per hour at present. In the financial year 2022-23, per capita electricity consumption in the state was 1280 kilowatt per hour. At present, the total number of consumers in the state is one crore 77 lakh 74 thousand.
Development of power infrastructure in the state
The available generation capacity of Madhya Pradesh increased to 23 thousand 30 MW in the current financial year 2023-24. The length of ultra high pressure transmission lines in the state has become 44 thousand 47 circuit kilometers. The capacity of ultra high pressure substations is 83 thousand 268 MVA. The number of existing ultra high pressure substations is 432. These include 15 substations of 400 kV, 91 of 220 kV and 326 of 132 kV.
Sub Transmission and Distribution System
Energy Minister Shri Tomar has informed that the length of 33 kV line in Madhya Pradesh has reached 61 thousand 883 circuit kilometers, the length of 11 kV line has reached 4 lakh 71 thousand 282 circuit kilometers and the length of low pressure (LT) line has reached 4 lakh 76 thousand 434 circuit kilometers. This network of lines has made the supply of electricity possible in every region of the state. Quality electricity supply to all categories of consumers has been made possible through 7798 power transformers and 10 lakh 42 thousand 842 distribution transformers in the state.
