UP Revenue Department reclaims 27,688 hectares of pastures, campaign to continue post-monsoon

Lucknow : Following the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Department has launched a large-scale campaign to free pastures from illegal occupants across the state. So far, over 27,000 hectares have been reclaimed, with 12 districts achieving complete clearance of encroachments on pastures. The Chief Minister has instructed that the campaign be accelerated in other districts to ensure similar results.

In Ayodhya alone, over 2,000 hectares of illegally occupied land have been cleared. Apart from Ayodhya, the campaign has recovered 27,688 hectares of land in Agra, Firozabad, Kasganj, Barabanki, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharthnagar, Chitrakoot, Shravasti, Rampur, Ghazipur, and Varanasi districts.

The Chief Minister has also directed district officials to create a village-wise list of pastures. After the monsoon rains, a large-scale campaign will be launched to free any remaining grazing land from encroachment. Once cleared, the land will be used by the Animal Husbandry Department for productive use, benefiting livestock across the state.

In addition to reclaiming pastures, CM Yogi has issued instructions to assess the condition of stray cattle in both urban and rural areas. Plans are in place to construct additional sheds in cow shelters to accommodate these animals.

The Chief Minister has emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in cow shelters, ensuring that no areas become waterlogged or muddy. Proper facilities for straw, green fodder, and water are to be provided, along with respectful arrangements for the burial of deceased cattle.
