Chief Minister’s Tirtha Darshan Yojana – Eknath Shinde Brings Joy and Fulfillment to Elders’ Lives State-Level E-Launch of ‘Mukhyamantri Tirtha Darshan Yojana’ by Chief Minister from Kolhapur

“Our elders are our wealth, and they have worked hard all their lives. Their experience and knowledge are invaluable resources. It is our responsibility to bring moments of happiness and fulfillment to their lives,” said Chief Minister Eknath Shinde through an e-message during the state-level launch of the ‘Mukhyamantri Tirtha Darshan Yojana.’ The scheme, facilitated by the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance, is aimed at senior citizens of all religions across the state.

On this occasion, Medical Education and Special Assistance Minister, and Guardian Minister Hasan Mushrif flagged off a special train carrying 800 senior pilgrims from Kolhapur for a pilgrimage. Member of Parliament Darhysheel Mane was also present during the event.

Chief Minister Shinde expressed his happiness over the scheme’s launch from the holy site of Karvir in South Kashi Ai Ambabai, where he paid respects to Mother Ambabai and saluted Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, a pioneer of social revolution. The first special train under the scheme is bound for Ayodhya, offering pilgrims the chance to visit the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram. Shinde extended his best wishes to the senior pilgrims making the journey from Dakshin Kashi Kolhapur to Ayodhya.

Committees have been formed at the district level to oversee the scheme. The state will cover travel, accommodation, and food expenses for the selected beneficiaries. The scheme includes 73 pilgrimage sites across India, including 66 within Maharashtra, and is implemented transparently via online processes. Minister Mushrif received praise for his efforts at the inauguration.

Medical and healthcare facilities have also been arranged for the senior citizens during their journey, with 10 social justice employees, 3 medical staff, and 24 IRCTC employees appointed to assist. Chief Minister Shinde emphasized the importance of ensuring the pilgrims’ well-being throughout the pilgrimage.
