Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Visits Rehabilitated Irshalwadi
Employment Opportunities for Resettled Students and Women Announced
Raigad Gymkana : One year has passed since the Irshalwadi tragedy. The construction of 44 houses for the affected victims, facilitated by CIDCO, is in its final stages. Today, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the site to inspect the progress and review the work. He announced that the families will receive possession of their new homes in the coming days.
While returning to Mumbai after a tour of Pune, Chief Minister Shinde made a surprise visit to the Irshalwadi rehabilitation project. He was accompanied by MP Srirang Barane, MLA Mahendra Thorve, CIDCO officer Ganesh Deshmukh, and other officials from various departments.
In July 2023, a landslide devastated many families in Irshalwadi, located in the Khalapur taluk, resulting in numerous fatalities. During his earlier visit, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured the citizens of immediate rehabilitation. After nearly a year of construction by CIDCO, 44 houses have now been completed.
Chief Minister Shinde directed CIDCO officials to employ highly educated students from Irshalwadi. He also discussed plans with Industries Minister Uday Samant to provide job opportunities for local women. The Chief Minister instructed the Industries Minister to ensure that officials from the Industries Department visit the village to facilitate employment for women in the community.
Following his tour of the newly constructed houses in Irshalwadi, the citizens expressed their satisfaction with the progress made.
