We have to save both water and trees – Shri Deka
If there is water, there will be trees and if there are trees, there will be water, so both have to be protected and every person has to plant a tree in the name of mother. Eco-tourism should be promoted in the state of Chhattisgarh, which is full of natural beauty, and everyone also needs to pay attention to water conservation. Governor Shri Ramen Deka said these things in the closing ceremony of the Green Summit held in Raipur today.
Governor Shri Deka attended the closing ceremony of the three-day Chhattisgarh Summit organized by Vibgyor North Foundation and Pragya Pravah Sanstha in collaboration with the Forest and Climate Change Department as the chief guest. Shri Deka congratulated the government for better forest management in 32 percent forest areas of Chhattisgarh. He said that every person should participate in the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign on the initiative of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, if every person plants a tree in our country with a population of 140 crore, then the scenario of the country will change. He said that after planting the tree, it will also have to be protected. Today, due to indiscriminate cutting of trees in the forests, the animals living there are facing food shortage, hence they come to the populated areas in search of food.
Governor Shri Deka said that water conservation is also very important. Everyone has to pay attention to this, only then human civilization will survive. He called rain harvesting important and said that in America, rain harvesting is arranged in 60 percent of the houses, but in our country it is only 10 percent, attention needs to be paid to this too. The country which saves water, its economy also develops.
The Governor emphasized on extensive publicity to promote eco-tourism in Chhattisgarh, this will also advance the economy of the state. He said that the spirit of community participation stems from our folk culture. In today’s time when environmental challenges are increasing, the spirit of community participation inspires us to find solutions together and face these challenges through collective efforts. He urged everyone to preserve their folk culture as well as adopt it as an inspiration for environmental conservation. Shri Deka appealed and said that we should together take a pledge that we will conserve our natural resources, be ready to face environmental challenges and walk on the path of sustainable development.
