Ensure the delimitation and reservation process in the state within the time limit : Election Commissioner Mr. Ajay Singh

Chhattisgarh State Election Commission organized an important meeting in the office of the Commission located in Nava Raipur regarding the preparations for the local body elections. This meeting was held under the chairmanship of State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh, in which the Secretary and related officials of the General Administration Department and Urban Administration Department participated. The objective of this review meeting was to evaluate the preparations for conducting the upcoming local body elections smoothly and transparently.

State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh gave instructions to ensure the proceedings of delimitation and reservation within the time limit. He said that the processes of delimitation and reservation are very important for the election, so that timely and fair elections can be conducted.

In the meeting, the current status of reservation of places in municipalities along with the non-receipt of information regarding delimitation due to court adjournment in urban bodies (Municipal Corporation Rajnandgaon, Municipal Corporation Kawardha, Kumhari, Bemetara, Takhatpur) was discussed.
In the meeting, other topics like fixation of rental rates for vehicles to be acquired for the general elections of urban bodies and three-tier panchayats 2024-25 and future by-elections, honorarium of observers appointed in the election, honorarium rates to be given to government officers and employees employed for conducting elections for the upcoming general and by-elections 2024-25 and proposals sent for prior approval of the Finance Department for hiring vehicles were discussed.

Various aspects related to the election were discussed in detail in the meeting, in which State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh directed the officials that all departments should work in mutual coordination, so that there is no chaos during the elections. He said with special emphasis that it is very important to ensure the accuracy of the voter list, so that every eligible voter can exercise his franchise properly.

Commissioner Shri Singh said that every stage of the electoral process will be reviewed regularly and immediate corrective steps will be taken if needed. He emphasized on using various mediums to make the voter awareness campaign effective.

On this occasion, Secretary of General Administration Department Mr. Anbalagan P., Secretary of Urban Administration and Development Department Mr. Basavaraju S., Secretary of the Commission Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, Deputy Secretary Dr. Neha Kapoor and Mr. Alok Srivastava were also present.
