Over 60 Actions Taken Against Illegal Mining Activities: 12 FIRs Filed, Over One Crore in Fines Collected – Chief Minister Bhajan Lal’s Zero Tolerance Policy
Jaipur – In the past five to seven days, more than 60 actions have been taken against illegal mining activities across Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Jaipur, Rajsamand, Kota, and other regions. These actions have resulted in 12 FIRs, vehicle seizures, and the collection of fines exceeding one crore rupees, which have been deposited in the treasury. In Bhilwara’s Geta Patoli, a trailer involved in illegal gravel mining was pursued late at night, and the team successfully confiscated the vehicle, handing it over to the Badlias police station.
Chief Minister and Minister of Mines Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma has enforced a zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining. Shri T. Ravikant, Principal Secretary to the Government, Mines Department, is personally overseeing the operations. Officials of the Mines Department have been directed to stay active in the field to ensure strict action.
Major operations were conducted under the supervision of Additional Director of Mines, Udaipur, Deepak Tanwar, particularly in Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, and Rajsamand. On the night of 8 October, four tractors and trolleys involved in the illegal transportation of mineral gravel were seized in Chittorgarh and handed over to the Bigod police station.
SME Bhilwara Shri OP Kabra reported that 20 actions have been taken this month against illegal mining activities in Bhilwara, Bijauliya, Chittorgarh, and Nimbaheda. A penalty of ₹32.45 lakh has been recovered and deposited in the treasury. Additionally, SME Vigilance Bhilwara has registered seven cases, recovering a further ₹3.81 lakh.
In the working area of SME Jaipur Shri NS Shaktawat, 3,120 tonnes of gravel have been seized along with 26 stocks of illegal mineral transportation and 19 stocks of illegal mineral storage. ME Jaipur’s team, led by Shyam Kapdi, seized two dumpers, four trolleys, and levied fines amounting to ₹2.25 lakh. Further actions have been taken by AME Dausa, AME Kotputli, and AME Tonk, leading to the seizure of dumpers, tractor trolleys, and large equipment, with multiple FIRs filed across the region.
A fine of ₹27.90 lakh was collected by SME Vigilance Jaipur, led by Pratap Meena, through 14 actions. Several vehicles involved in illegal activities were handed over to police stations in Sri Madhopur, Neem, Kot, Muhana, and Kanota. Similarly, ME Vigilance Jaipur’s team, headed by KC Goyal, took eight actions and collected fines amounting to ₹15 lakh.
In Rajasamand, 196 tonnes of gravel were seized in Kunwaria Pipli by ME Lalit Bachra. The crackdown on illegal mining activities continues across the region, ensuring strict enforcement of the law.
