Chief Minister Unveils Commemorative Postage Stamp Celebrating 25 Years of Mundra Port’s Development Journey

Gandhinagar 09 October 2024: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel unveiled a commemorative postage stamp in Gandhinagar today to mark the completion of 25 years of Mundra Port’s development. The stamp, titled ’25 Years of Progress – Mundra Port’, depicts the remarkable journey of Mundra from an ordinary jetty to a vital global shipping hub, emphasizing its importance as a key commercial port in the country. Issued by India Post on October 9, World Postal Day, this commemorative stamp showcases Mundra Port’s achievements.

This commemorative stamp released by India Post is titled ’25 Years of Progress – Mundra Port’. The stamp sheet, which contains 12 stamps, has been produced by India Post in collaboration with APSEZ. A total of 5,000 stamp sheets, comprising 60,000 stamps, have been printed at Hyderabad’s Security Printing Press. Additionally, a replica of the stamp sheet will be permanently displayed at the National Philatelic Museum in New Delhi. These stamps will be available for purchase through India Post’s e-portal. In addition to the Mundra Port commemorative stamp, India Post has also introduced a special cover and stamp cancellation procedure.

Mundra is a significant port located on the northern coast of the Gulf of Kutch. The Gujarat Maritime Board granted permission for its establishment as a captive jetty in 1994. Since then, the port has been developed under a Public Private Partnership model. Additionally, Mundra Port and Special Economic SEZ (MPSEZ) have been operational since 2001. During the release of this special commemorative postage stamp, Chief Post Master General of Gujarat Circle Shri Ganesh V Sawaleshwarkar, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Pankaj Joshi, Shri Manoj Kumar Das, Managing Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited Shri Karan Adani, and senior officials of India Post remained present.
